Learn about D&D organized play options

I'd assumed it was to keep players from accidentally reading the adventures. Ah well, apparently not.

Learn about D&D organized play options

Hi all, Someone had posted a link and password to the adventurer league adventures. I've talked someone into running them, but now I can't find them. Help?

    D&D 5E (2014) General Feats Discussion

First of all, the human variant that starts with a feat is very strong indeed and should get feats in use from the start. Secondly, if you start with an odd primary stat, certain feats that give a +1 are very good choices. I really like the feat system. Feats, for the most part, are character...

D&D 5E (2014) Polearm Master feat: very good?

I'm less clear on if I'd grant reach. Seems like you'd have to grasp the sharp end of the thing to pull that off. Plus, using the butt of the weapon is common, but only for close-in combat. So the realist in me doesn't like that. But RAW, "probably".

D&D 5E (2014) Polearm Master feat: very good?

One of the best feats. Now keep in mind that first part is good, but not massively better than a d6+0 attack you can get without the feat (two-weapon combat). The second part is huge however. It is probably the best feat for maximizing attacks. Action and bonus can be attacks always and...

    D&D 5E (2014) Blade Ward cantrip

In combination with Armor of Agathys it is pretty good. Especially against mindless opponents. Better than Dodge by a long ways. Not a common case, but it isn't useless for a Warlock.

    D&D 5E (2014) 5E Player's Handbook owners: What's the current condition of your book's binding?

Mine nearly fell apart, but Elmer's glue largely fixed it. Just a few pages stick out a bit from the book (couldn't quite get them square to glue in). I responded as "coming loose"--the pages were about 1/2 out (top half not attached). Nice poll BTW. I'd no idea how many people were or were...

    D&D 5E (2014) Forced movement

Thanks for all the feedback. I think I'd probably give a saving throw (Dex) to avoid getting thrown off. DC18 you fall prone at the edge, DC 13 you fall but grab on to something before you fall far. +5 DC per 5' pushed past the ledge. Or something like that. Just seems reasonable that the...

    D&D 5E (2014) Forced movement

(Sorry if this is a repost--first one didn't show up). Hi all, Are there any generic rules on forced movement I'm missing? I did see that forced movement generally cannot cause attacks of opportunity. But what happens if forced movement pushes someone over a cliff or into a burning inferno...

    D&D 5E (2014) PHB binding problems--WotC doing anything?

I've tired to fix it myself and so far, with minimal use, it is working. I just used Elmer's glue and set it on its binding overnight. http://mickiegee.hubpages.com/hub/book-repair-glue provides better glues to use and a bit on technique. It would be nice of WotC would replace the ones...

    D&D 5E (2014) PHB binding problems--WotC doing anything?

I'm finding that the pages cleric-to-fighter are coming out of my book already. It's not exactly seen heavy use (15-20 hours of reading). I know there was a thread about the PHB binding before, but it was (mostly?) about books people saw that had problems, not ones they'd bought. And for...

    D&D 5E (2014) Attacking the unaware

Hi all, So a target's AC doesn't drop due to things like being unaware of a threat--the attacker just gets advantage, right? A character with a 20 dex and +2 armor bonus has an AC of 17 even when surprised? I'm good with that, but it's so different than previous editions I wanted to check.

D&D 5E (2014) what is the best class?

I largely agree though I don't personally _like_ the bard (don't care for them as a full caster). But I am curious why war cleric rather than any other that gets martial arms and heavy armor. Or are you just using war as a shorthand?

D&D 5E (2014) what is the best class?

Powerful, in the context I'm using, is "tends to be more effective in most situations". I think your attempt at arguing "it doesn't matter--situations vary too much" has some validity to it, but on the whole I don't think it can be defended. Would you really argue that if we took the 5e...

D&D 5E (2014) what is the best class?

I agree with the "one you like to play". But a fun question might be, which is the most "powerful" and least powerful. Basically a question of balance. 5e looks to be very balanced for the most part. The big issue is that if your rest rate is significantly more often than the expected...

    D&D 5E (2014) Quick question about fighter/warlock multiclass

Twice. I'd follow the extra attacks don't stack rule. In any case, I don't think RAW you could get to three. You have two different ways to get to 2 attacks...

    D&D 5E (2014) How much of a corpse?

Thanks for the thoughts so far. It's not a big deal either way, I was just curious how people would rule this.

    D&D 5E (2014) How much of a corpse?

Hi all, I've got a question that is certainly something I think the right answer is "GM call" but I'd like to hear what answer each of you would give. Speak with dead requires a corpse. How much of a corpse do you need? (I expect this question is going to come up a lot with higher-level warlocks).

D&D 5E (2014) What if no stat increases; only feats?

This is a really good point. If starting stats can be high enough to start, I think it gets dealt with. Might be fun to give a starting array of 17, 16, 15, 13, 10, 8 or some such. Give the racial stat bonuses and be done (humans with +1 to all start to look much better, though +2 to anything...
