    Can you miss on purpose?

I allow people to attack with a +0 (total) modifier if they wish. All attack rolls for that attack must use the same modifier. I figure there is no good reason why level and stats _have_ to be used. But a 20 still hits. When you swing around a sword (or blast an area) sometimes you get...

Official Rules Updates (March 02, 2010)

Agreed. The barbarian keeps bouncing between great and poor with these changes.

    Monk question

thanks much! Out of curiosity, is that actually in the RAW somewhere? The brief part under Monks in the PHB3 doesn't seem to indicate anything at that level of detail (at least to me). Am I missing something obvious, was there errata already (if so where), or something else? I must say, of...

Need a Quick Response on Wielding Two Implements

You can only use one for a given attack. So when the attack is made, you pick which one is in use. Most powers say things like "when using this implement to attack you get X". I believe static powers, like +1 AC when wielding, would work as long as you had the implement in hand (or whatever).

    knowing you're marked

I'm in the camp that they know they are marked, and for how long, but don't know about other powers that can trigger due to the marked state. (Just as they don't know that the ranger has an immediate interrupt that he can use when they attack or the wizard can cast shield as an interrupt.) How...

    Monk question

How exactly do the "full disciplines" work? "Gives you two actions to chose from" implies that you can only pick one of those actions. So can you pick a move power from one power and an attack from another? Can you use both actions in the same round? How does this work with encounter powers...

    March errata

I couldn't find any real thread on the latest errata though I suspect I just missed it. On the whole the errata, especially the saving throw penalty nerfs, look really good. The nerf of Divine Miracle from renewing encounter attack powers forever to just once seems massively overkill...

    General consensus on expertise feats

Our house rule (to replace expertise and paragon defenses): +1 to NADs at levels 5, 15, 25. +1 to attack at levels 5, 15, 25.

[?] Battlestar Galactica the board game

We've found it to be too random: the cards determine who wins or loses more than anything else. And if the admiral is a toaster, then it can be very rough going for the humans...

    Pacing & daily powers/surges

I've run a fairly combat-light game in 3e that involved lots of travel. For 4e I'm considering: * You dailies back after a few days of full rest. Resting in a shack in the winter takes longer than resting in a high-end inn maybe? * You recover 1 healing surge per night, +1 more depending on...

    Deathwatch questions

I've got a few quick questions about the spell Deathwatch. In general how do you play a long duration spell that works as a cone? Do you pick the cone once a round as a free action? Can you spend actions to move the cone? Something else? How does the spell interact with invisible or...

    Epic Taclord help?

As a quick note, I've found that epic bards are easier to break than epic warlords and fill basically the same role. With a multi-class to paladin an epic CON bard can end up granting +7 attack bonuses for a fair bit of the fight. That helps a lot! Mark

Repair magic items that aren't broken

yeah, I saw that. It's actually really cool. I can imagine a fight where a door gets broken down (or a portcullis gets bent) and you cast make whole to split the party (or bad guys). Could be nasty powerful in the ideal situation. And it repairs damaged magic items!

Repair magic items that aren't broken

Does mending repair all the hit point damage to a damaged, but not broken, magic item? Seems really powerful for a cantrip, but I don't see anything that indicates otherwise.
