Exordius from Weapons of Legacy could fit well if you are willing to figure out the Legacy rules, they aren't too hard and the weapons have some very neat abilities. Exordius at lvl 14 would be a +3 Longsword that eventually becomes a +5 Holy Longsword at 20th. Cheers, E

I would say so, as long as your players are ok with it. I actually might steal this idea for the campaign I am running, as one of the "clever" players will humm and haw for a few minutes about where to place the template.

If you are making 6 - 18th level PCs from scratch they should have: 2 - 18th lvl items 2 - 17th lvl items 2 - 16th lvl items ... etc all the way down to 1st level items, now you can trade items up and down as stated on pg 228 of MIC.
