Campaigns based on more obscure geographical regions

it's my dream to one day build a campaign setting around the indian epic period, like the Ramayana and the Mahabharata, full of magic, lots of physical divine presence, and demons and stuff. I mean, there's a reason fantasy never really took off in india; it couldnt compete with what's already...

What's the coolest item in your game collection?

my two prizes are my 3.0 PHB which looks a lot like PA's up there (Jeff grubb told me as he signed mine that it felt like the end of high school, signing yearbooks for everyone =) and my copy of Dragonlance Adventures, signed by everyone i could find ever associated with DL =)

Gnomes and their role in your game

i adore gnomes. Their attitude and insane engineering is what got me hooked on Dragonlance, and from there D&D. my first ever PC was a tinker gnome =)

A Feast for Crows June 24?

Amazon also says that The Key of Destiny, a dragonlance module that came out a few weeks back, isnt published yet. As with all things, i'll believe this when i see it.

    Dragonlance: Bestiary of Krynn

yeah, there's a time stamp issue somewhere. they layout is just very wierdly aligned. its also harder to read than it should be, and sometimes just sloppy looking. If this was a word document that went vertically, it would look better, but as a book format, it becomes disjointed. One monster...

    Dragonlance: Bestiary of Krynn

I adore UDON, so i was really thrilled to see their art in the book. This is also the last book that will have the giant margins, which thrills me even more =) Cam and Andre' have a love for the setting which pours through in their descriptions. Hell, they even made some monsters completely...

Dragonlance: Key of Destiny & WOL

i dunno, i really like the legionnairre artwork in AoM, and some of the incidental pieces. The elmores don't do it for me anymore.

    Ebberlance

simply put, its the evolution of a campaign setting. GH and Blackmoor were pretty bare bones. DL came along and introduced plot and overarching story. FR added copious amounts of detail. DS/PS/SJ/etc added flavor variants and choices. And eberron is taking the fruit of thirty years of...

    Baen Free Library

it totally did. i think its a brilliant idea, and exposes me to authors i wouldnt have normally bothered with, like john ringo.

Dragonlance: Key of Destiny & WOL

AoM is a really really great world book in general for Dragonlance. You don't need it, persay, as KoT does an absolutly excellent job of making sure that the module is completely standalone, hitting all cultures, flora and fauna that you're likely to meet up with. Admittedly, it might help a...

Dragonlance: Key of Destiny & WOL

yeah, what Kai said =) Also, Chris Coyle is to be commended for his statting out of encounters. The module lets you know exactly what happens if the PCs choose to combat, talk or whatever their way out of an encounter, and offers suggestions on how to award experience for them. The writing...

Dragonlance: Key of Destiny & WOL

umm. key of destiny is 176 pages long. That seems pretty reasonable at 25 bucks. The art inside is good too, and the module goes a long way in describing and offering flavor for the previously unexplored region of Khur. As for mistakes, well, until recently, there was only one person really...

Where to start with Steven Brust

heh. _To Reign in Hell_ is one of my all time favorite books, and certainly my favorite work of Brust's =) So much so that i wish people read that in school instead of the insufferably boring john milton, who is currently making me cry over a final term paper that just won't write =(

Where to start with Steven Brust

thats way far ahead of where you should start. You need to go back and pick up Jhereg, or the trade compilation _The Book of Jhereg_. its a multi part series (the books are relatively shorter, though), with lots of humor and great witty writing. If you want to read the viscount of adrilankha...

My friends and i enjoy long drawn out games of Cities and Knights of Catan, short drawn out games of fluxx, timeline, pipegame (cheapass), medium length drawn out games of carcassone, D&D minis, chez geek, the cheap ass game Witch Trial, and epic 13 hour long drawn out games of the new...

Dragonlance: Key of Destiny & WOL

aside from a couple of typos, this module is brilliantly done. the writing is great, and its actually just as enjoyable to read as it is to run. Not very railroady either; the pcs have a lot of choices on how to get where they need to go. Chris did a great job.

    Ebberlance

It's a common misconception to think that chronicles came before the modules; the books are infinitely more popular after all. In fact, Dragons of Autumn Twilight was developed simultaniously with the first module, mainly following the plot of the first arc. Books 2 and 3 came before their...
