How many 18th level fighters could an 18th level fighter take out

We had them in the old datys too they were open to the DMs judghemnt and weren't based on picky movemnt distinctions.

How many 18th level fighters could an 18th level fighter take out

actuallty it is the other way arround. 3e characters are a 1/10th as tough as an AD&D character at best. It'd take two AD&D fighters something like 13 minutes to finish a fight unless someone had tricky magic items up an armored sleeve. A 3e fighter would be dead against another 3e fighter in...

Questions about the Speed of Light

Here is an interesting little thougght piece regarding light. What happens to photons we observe?

Questions about the Speed of Light

    1) Things travel at 100% the speed of light all the time, some of them are called photons. I'm figuring a vessel traveling at 100% the speed of light maty see the whole ubniverse stand still but there is still time on the vessel. 2) Inside the starship that travels at 100% light speed, someone...

    Women venting about men

They are dumb dumb dumb. I'm very good and very close friends with a lesbian couple, we hang out with each other a lot (we have kids the same age too) and people always assume I'm "with" one or the other of them or even "both" of them (this dillusion is sometimes useful ). Guys are constantly...

    Women venting about men

Not true, they may indeed consoider it but find the dry spell in the middle unappealing. wow, you have a lot to learn there. It is far easier to walk away from a boyfriends financial idiocy then it is to walk away from a husbands financial idiocy. I think you may be confusing boys with men.

Is advancement in 3.X D&D too SLOW?

My most recent campaign recently wrapped up with something like 190 sessions. The highest level character was 14th level. We had folks in that campaign with no game experience to 25 years of experience (well by the end). Only one character made it from the 1st session to the last - Craddoc a...

Is advancement in 3.X D&D too SLOW?

Those Sessions where you RPed the trip to the privvy must have been awesome. ;) That really seems terribly slow to me and my old games seldom breached 12th level or so a couple of years into the camapign.

    D&D and AD&D - 10 Players?

My old AD&D campaign had as many as 14 players, some folks had two or three PCs but they didn't all go on the same adventures together. We played every 2 or 3 weeks for 7 or 8 years.

Interesting Ryan Dancey comment on "lite" RPGs

GUPS -Lite 3rd edition was 32 pages in length also. It is also an incomplete game despite how comprehensive it manages to be in 32 pages.

Interesting Ryan Dancey comment on "lite" RPGs

Well then clearly there were mechanics, ones you do not recall completely. +2 to hit. Move quicker then when you aren't charging. (incomplete but that is right off the top of my head)

Interesting Ryan Dancey comment on "lite" RPGs

Yes, there were rules for charging in AD&D. In first and second edition.

Interesting Ryan Dancey comment on "lite" RPGs

It wasn't D20 contracting his ability to conceptualize actions it was his not reading the rules or not understanding the rules that got in the way. The rule book has examples that show folks what it means by "straight line".

Interesting Ryan Dancey comment on "lite" RPGs

I don't know if I'd call a game with rules scattered over 4 rule books (over 120 pages total) with at least 5 different combat resolution systems Lite. ( Chainmail, chain mail man-vs-man, fantasy combat matrix, aerial combat and the "new" optional combat system )

Interesting Ryan Dancey comment on "lite" RPGs

Really? How about when you factor in the skills and powers books? Or the two or three variants on running in the PHB and so on

    Entangle needs nerfing...

Yet it still functions well enough to provide the effect that the spell provides. you dont' have to go anywhere outside of the spells description and still find it to be a bit powerful. One campiagn I PC'd in took place outdoors a lot of the time and this spell came up constantly. We were...

Interesting Ryan Dancey comment on "lite" RPGs

Hmmmm... thriving rules-lite systems ? Has there ever been one? I don't think any game is rules-lite if it is over something like 64 pages or so. I know C&C is simpler them 3e but i'd never call it rules-lite, True-20 certainly isn't rules lite they just aren't ruels heavy.

D&D 4E Suppose 4e is released, do you buy it?

I wouldn't buy 4th edition books anytime in the next five years or so. I might take a hissy-fit and swear off WoTC entirely and start up an old AD&D campaign or play 2nd edition Castles and Crusades ;) .

Help with a player constantly changing characters

I find if I limit the level at which new characters come in then switching characetrs or letting them die doesn't happen too often. Sure it happens now and again but folks that do it are very serious about it and I'm not bothere by continuity issues (i.e. if everyone in the game is about 12th...
