    Why does everyone hate drow?

IMC I don't have any drow to hate! I do have dark elves, but they are much more based on the unseleelie court and are not black skinnned with white hair spider worshippers.

    Would D&D be easier if...

This is pretty much what I'd vote for - less of everything - beginners can easily be overwhelmed by the amount of choice and complexity.

    Drinking at the Game Table?

Yes, but not drunkeness. As most of us travel to the game on public transport no real issues about drink driving either

Its a new campaign and your DM offers you the following options

I think I'd prefer all same race - not unusual in a lot of campaigns - probably all dwarves would be my choice. To be really evil the all cleric party would be tough on the GM or if its 3.5 all druids, watch those guys flatten the opposition - on the whole the clerics would be tougher due to...

    Good 1st level modules

A good choice if you want a long term campaign starting from 1st is Lost City of Barakus from Necromancer, but it is a big one.

And your favorite module writer is?

OD&D/1e - Paul Jaquays from early stuff in the Dungeoneer, through the RQ stuff one of my favourites. 3e - no one outstanding yet, but I like the one module I've seen written by Nathan Paul The Grey Citadel and I know he's got another in the pipeline with Necromancer Games.

Diaglo: What's so great about OD&D?

Point of clarification OD&D = three books in a box not edited by Moldvay or Holmes and the box is not red or blue it is either white or woodgrain. If it is in a red, blue or magenta box it is Basic D&D (BD&D), if you're not sure please look at these links to the Acaeum. OD&D BD&D To be...

Do you own Ars Magica? Will you?

Nearly the same except for it being 3 fantasy RPGS I like and don't have enough time to play.

    [Sept] What Are You Reading?

Collapse is interesting and fairly alarming in terms of where current societies stand as a lot of the historic mistakes are still being made, but there is still grounds for optimism. I don't regard it as being too environmentally deterministic, I'd not read any of Diamond's books since The Third...

Diaglo: What's so great about OD&D?

Diaglo, A few more questions: 1. do you use minis for combat resolution? 2. If I recall correctly from the story hour you are using the three core books, Greyhawk, Blackmoor, Eldritch Wizardry and some stuff from the Strategic Review, please confirm? 3. House rules - how do you handle these?

    Review Project take two

I found the e-opinions guidelines interesting - I feel that I've been doing a lot of those anyway, except for the non-RPG audience parts, but I'd welcome comments on my reviewing style anyway if anyone cares to give them (I use a standardised format, so its easy enough to look at any and get a...

    Review Project take two

I'll have to check when RW sent me copies of EoMR and LA for review, it was certainly before I started with the review project.

Which do you spend more time reading?

too much time on the net - I need to get back to reading (and reviewing books) and writing adventures, also writing up sessions in the games I GM and play and sorting out my settings.

    Who are Howard and Leiber?

I'll be honest and say I didn't know that they had - I know China Mieville has talked about reading monster books for D&D as inspiration. I'll have to check out Brust some time.

    The Ashes - Fifth Test

In this match and the series as whole the balance has moved from one side to the other - after all at lunch yesterday Australia looked like they could bat their way into a first innnings lead - for England the main thing is try and keep the wickets long enough and put the aussies into a position...

    In Praise of Low-Level Campaigns

Personally I enjoy playing and DMing for lower levels (1-10) more than higher levels, particularly bringing characters up from 1st to reach other levels, so you can look back and remember beating the giant that took you up another level.
