Plain ol' Fighters: Likes & Dislikes?

I like them personally, though not as much in 3e/3.5 as previous editions, but the feat trees give plenty of customisation options and I like being able to get in there and melee. :heh:

    Back to the future

The DM has some Lou Zocchi dice from back then with the 0-9 on the D20. Need to try and find myself some, and of course we may only need D20 and D6 depending on what rules we use.

That's the nicest thing anyone has said to me all day. :p

True, and I did remember that. Probably need two characters per player with a two player group.

    Back to the future

Not sure yet as we do have both sets available. If I only run one character I might make it an elf as they are fighter/magic users in this edition.

    Remember Judges Guild?

Interesting, I did know some stuff was going on, but two product announcements is big news.

We were talking about which modules/adventures the GM was going to use as he was looking at some of the Necromancer Games modules, but it might be a case of using old TSR ones (at least to start) as I and the other player probably have not played in them - I'd pretty much switched to RQII by the...

Thanks for those links. Very useful. I'll probably try and do a story hour when the game starts up.

    Back to the future

Well my brother is now going to start running a new campaign for me and another of our regular group using OD&D (1974). I'm looking forward to it, but I hope we'll use Greyhawk supplement as well as the three core books and probably the stuff from The Strategic Review. So it'll be back to roll...

Are high attributes more fun then low attributes?

It depends a lot on what you define as high stats really, if all stats are high then I think it detracts from play while characters with a mix of good and bad stats can have character. I personally regard anything much over a 32 point buy equivalent as being too high for my enjoyment. QFT.

    Gaming in the Orient

Of the posters that are on RPG.net in China I think that they are all expats from english speaking countries. Its not so surprising that Singapore as a wealthier country seems to have a number of RPGers. In Japan and South Korea I know that CRPG are big and that probably takes some of the...

Dungeon layout, map flow and old school game design

This has been a really excellent thread. Melan I like your analysis and it ties into what I like or dislike in an adventure and has made me think about what I'm going to do for some adventures I'm trying to write up.

    2006 ENnies Voting has begun!

Well I've gone and voted on the stuff I can - its fairly easy to check the art on products in a game store, but some things I had to leave blank as I haven't been able to check out all the products. The fan websites are pretty impressive in all.

    Looking For A Campaign Setting

I'm going to add another vote for the Wilderlands of High Fantasy Fairly low magic Varied setting with classic S&S feel Easy to use Dungeon adventures, Goodman's DCC, or Necromancer's adventures with it (or any other published modules Psionics are part of the setting

    Where be the single-classed goodness?

For a lot of reasons its a waste to multi-class a cleric or druid in 3.5, as those classes are very powerful. Bard can be versatile, but lacks any outstanding strengths except as a support class. Personally I tend not to enjoy much multiclassing, but that is me and my approach to the game...

At what level do you start your campaigns?

For a campaign that's intended to run for a long time 1st so that is the default, but for short campaigns sometimes higher levels to save a big build up to the meat of the adventure.
