    D&D Race Survivor -- Round 1

Seconded! <with gusto> I just had the exact same discussion with someone from my group last night. Timely topic for me.

AD&D 2E Converting the old 2E bard kits?

Yep, IMC, at 1st level, bards may forgo bardic music abilities, in exchange for a feat (I also give bards a bonus feat every 8 levels). That would give 3 feats by 16th level, plenty of room for specialization into a style that would fit any of the old 2E kits.

    Merging Divine/Arcane Magic

Lots of interesting ideas above for shoe horning in other rules to fit your needs. Me, I say let 'em Cherry-Pick the spells, but mandate that Charisma is the casting stat, and utilize the restrictions of an "arcane" caster. The party will still need 2 casters.

    Round 18 is OVER

Eh. Ya gotta take PBS to get rapid shot. And PBS is IMO the feat that is not only an entry to a feat chain, but probably the best single feat in the game that doesn't have another feat as a prereq. Anyone who is too much of a doofus to remember to apply the benefits of a feat when it applies...

    Round 17 IS OVER

Everyone of the remaining feats is good, but I say its time to get rid of the last of the "Improved" feats.

    Round 16 is OVER

I dont see how you can Kick PBS. It is the one feat that I consider for just about every character: Fighter? I got lots of feats, and this adds "to-hit" and "damage" Rogue? I need help with damage and BAB, and I dont want to stand in melee Wiz/Sorc? Bonus to hit and damage with my range...

One cool place from your campaign

The Ruins of Irongate Keep Irongate Keep. Once the prison of the Tharian Empire. Bringing together political prisinors with all manner of creatures which were deemed a threat to public saftey, but too valuable or knowledgable to destroy. It was the base of the Tenth Tharian Legion, the Black...

    Round 14 Is Over

You gotta be Nucking Futz. NO 1e/2e Thief EVER backstabbed with a dagger if he could get away with it, Long Sword. Two-Handed Sword if he was a fighter/thief. Short Sword if he was some sort of stunty thief. In 3.x high level thieves care less what they are sneak attacking with, the...

    Round 14 Is Over

I'm still not a fan of the SR rules, and with the ever increasing number of spells that ignore SR, the time for SR (and thus Spell Penetration) to leave has come.

    Round 12 is OVER!

QUICKEN SPELL Wow, a feat that doesn't begin to be useful until 13th level, and then only for Wizards. <BOOT> I'd really like to drill SPELL PENETRATION, Im not a big fan of the SR mechanics in the first place, but Quicken has got to go first.

Name Five Things You've Done That Others Probably Have Not

Ok, ok... 1. Sat straight through 2 showings Star Wars on opening day with my mom and grandma! 2. Have had a photo on display at the Art Institute of Chicago. 3. Been pulled over for speeding... on a BICYCLE. 4. Moved 10 times (at least) before moving out of my parents house (at 18). 5. Lived...

THIS is why I roll in the open...

Um yeah, what he said. It's crucial for long standing campaigns. A long standing player in a game that I also play in, a game that is part of a continous campaign that has been running for over 15 years, has decided that he is quiting and because he has lost his trust of the DM. It sucks.

THIS is why I roll in the open...

Ok, you now have accepted that the dice are not mere (as one of my friends used to say) "random number generators". Now you must make your peace with the dice and begin to believe. This may mean getting a new set of dice and keeping them separate from your old dice. And getting a new dice...

Costing Out: Items that Boost One Save

I think that half the normal price is pretty fair. That being said, Neverwinter Nights has items like this. Items that grant +1 to one save are around 500 gold.

    Round 9 Is Over

EXTEND SPELL [METAMAGIC] GREATER TWO WEAPON FIGHTING [GENERAL] These feats don't do anything. Extend spell doesn't make short spells last long enough, and long spells already last long enough that they dont need to be extended Greater two weapon - sheesh when going up a feat chain, you are...

    The "Gandalf" in your campaign

Oh, yeah, I have Tim. Tim takes things so slowly, that PCs have been known to leave before he is done. I have had players request Tim in games unrelated to my homebrew. Tim also has a penchant for puns and literal thinking. He has a spell called Tim's slothful missles which works like magic...

    Sorcerer Spells with a Theme

Yeah, IMC Sorcerers do not get a Familiar, instead they get 1 (cleric) domain of known spells. The do not get the domain's granted power, just get to know the spells as a bonus when they can cast them. These are in addition to the spells they get to know.

    Round Vii Is Over

COMBAT REFLEXES [GENERAL] EXTEND SPELL [METAMAGIC] GREATER TWO-WEAPON FIGHTING [GENERAL] Combat Reflexes is entirely reactive, your opponent must do something they shouldn't try in melee anyway to use it Extend Spell?!? YGBFK. With the evaporation of spell durations you want to bother with...

    Reigning in Skills

Skills arn't out of hand, you just are not continuing to throw out the moderate skill check DCs. Give characters a fight on an icy ledge, the ranger who has put a few ranks in balance is going to be in good shape, while the "I can climb and intimidate 10 int half orc fighter" is going to...
