Hethas' Gambit: Game of Death discussion [rnd 5]

Actually, I have some clarifications I need from you, so I'll send you a note on where you're at right now - it should be sufficient information for you to decide the next round as well. As for tomorrow morning, I'm hoping to have it up today :).

Hethas' Gambit: Game of Death discussion [rnd 5]

Two of you have asked for a copy of your characters. I will be able to send those to you when I get home - the copy I have at work has too many DM's notes ;) Also, I'm still working on the round from last night. This round has taken a lot longer due mostly to tiredness on my part, although it...

    good PDM maker?

Personally, I don't find bookmarks particularly useful. My experience with them has indicated that they make a good "checklist in a review" kind of thing, but they don't seem to add anything to the usability or experience that (Ctrl)+F doesn't already give you. A document short enough that you...

Hethas' Gambit: Game of Death discussion [rnd 5]

Running behind. Boss in the office*. Have a ton of free time tonight, however :). Oh, and this round was not as violent as last round, but it looks like a good setup for next round. Also: I've noticed that the targets are getting harder than in the first two rounds... ("is that a boss in your...

    Iron dm summer champion announced!

Not today ;). But if you look through my exposition, it mentions most of the explicit edits my text needed. Mainly, I'd think up some ways for Ing to hide from PCs looking for the root of the problem :).

    Pocket Players Handbook

Personally, I would prefer that a third party publisher ran with this, particularly Green Ronin or Mongoose (the latter if they can learn to include a decent table of contents, durnit), both of whom have done "collected rules" books that I've found useful. WotC could make a very pretty booklet...

    Pocket Players Handbook

What size is the Pocket Grimoire Arcane by Green Ronin? That's 240 pages, and a very handy size. Personally, I'd think that you wouldn't need the entire SRD in one book. I'd keep spells in the Pocket Grimoires, and then add one book for equipment (including magic items), one book for combat...

    Metamagic List

Wow. That's like two empowers AND variable energy types for 3 levels. This would only be SL +2. To break it down, it would be SL +0 to make it all ice; +1 to add partial sonic; and +1 for partial acid. If it was part fire, part ice, part sonic and part acid, then it would be +3. But why on Earth...

    Metamagic List

Recent edits: 1. Added stretch spell as an alternative to extend spell. A spell caster could choose either one, depending on which kind of effect he was looking for, as they have different kinds of limitations on their function. Stretch spell is a bit cooler, I think, but isn't always as...

    Metamagic List

Actually double-checked, and mine does have the target max. "The spell hits one primary target, and then sprays outward to strike up to the caster’s level in secondary targets." There are a few differences, though - mine specifies that you can only hit each target once, for example :).

Hethas' Gambit: Game of Death discussion [rnd 5]

Hoping to have stuff up tonight or early tomorrow morning. Sorry for how quiet I've been the last few - had a very, very busy weekend. I may post some teasers this afternoon. ... Looks like I never posted Init, either. Dammit. Here you go: 36 - Xiao Fung (Number47) 35 - Xiao Lung (Number47)...

    Metamagic List

Weird, I set something at a higher power level than Faerun! But really, I think this works reasonably well at +3. A 40 ft radius fireball is really fricking huge - 6th level is fine with me :). Hm... this has some real potential, although I think that its current cost would make it a "must...

    Metamagic List

Re: Critique! For the invisibility question, I would say yes. It can potentially double the effective range of a spell, get around corners, utilize an ally's unique senses (a bat familiar, for example, could be the "ally target"), and generally make the wizard's strategy a lot more flexible. Or...

    Metamagic List

Hm. I would say the ally who retargetted it. However, that's a good point - perhaps this should be limited to instant spells? Missiles: mainly because missile spells typically have multiple missiles, or strange special effects - the balance aspect is a lot harder to predict, and would require...

    Metamagic List

Hm. Looks cool, although I'm planning to change AMF a lot - instead of being an ultimate disbarment of magic, it will be more like an opposed check to suppress spells.

    Metamagic List

I'm working on a campaign setting, and I thought I'd post the metamagic feats I'm using here. Suggestions, critiques, other metamagic feats, etc., are welcome. Notes: Lasting Spell was created by Nik Perez (Technik4). Lingering Touch Spell and Magnify Spell were created by Alex White (Plane...

    Iron DM: format and philosophy

I would be strongly against a forced exclusion of anyone based on past tournaments. As Rune pointed out, there's usually a 50% turnover as is. And part of the fun is the chance to go against the favorites. I know nemmerle (this was his first time, incidentally, to actually play) relished...

    Iron DM: format and philosophy

I think I explained some stuff about my first entry (the Orcs of Uggrahd), long ago, and incognito liked it enough that he started asking for exposition from everyone. And I've gotten enough private thank yous for showing how I went through the ingredients that I think it's a reasonably cool...
