Why does the paladin multiclassing rule exist?

For what it's worth, the Forgotten Realms setting allows paladins of certain orders to lift the multi-class restriction with a few classes. For example, a paladin of the Order of Super Sized Fries can freely multiclass as cleric and fighter, while a the Order #28 with a Large Pork Fried Rice...

What books would you like to see WOTC do

Another vote for that one. Something like "Lords of Madness" or "Libris Mortis", with creatures, feats, spells, and plenty of good fey lore. It'd also be nice to have some tips on how to use fey in Eberron, FR and Greyhawk. Also, a tool-kit type book that would help with Steampunk/ magic +...

    Eberron novel line. Any standouts?

I just finished reading "The Binding Stone" recently and really enjoyed it. It stayed true to the setting and the mechanics of D&D but not in a way that you could "hear the dice rolling". The characters were interesting and nuanced. I actually thought the Psion was one of the more interesting...

    forums issue with posting...

Nope. You make an account and get the email to verify it, then you're all set. You should be able to post, just like any other forum. Now, can anyone tell me why they don't have a working search engine? I can't even remember when, or if, they ever had one. Anyway, I'd personally give it two...

    Falling Paladins

Oh...that sounds awesome. I need to put "fallen paladin" on my list of characters I *need* to play. There would be so many great, juicy roleplaying bits that I wouldn't mind playing basically a fighter without the extra feats.

    The War Nerd on 300

Well, it was freedom as far as it pertained to actual Spartan citizens. As far as one can define freedom as existing in a totalitarian military state. The "war rhinos" kind of let me know what level of historical accuracy to expect in the film. I still enjoyed it quite a bit, maybe because I...

    Rate 300

I read both. In fact, I was a history major in college. It's worth considering that the Greeks themselves in their art depicted battle scenes that were very idealized. The human form was idealized and I've seen pottery depicting warriors wearing barely more than a helmet. I also think it...

    RIP: Good Music Albums

Some of my favorite best albums: "OK Computer" - Radiohead "Raindogs" - Tom Waits "Aenima" - Tool "Robot Hive/Exodus" - Clutch Each one, IMO, perfect from start to finish.

    Delta Green d20 is coming!

I think we've all been not so patiently waiting for this reprint for a decade or two (OK, it just feels like a decade). On a related note, I really miss John Tynes's blog. The website is there but the blog bits seem to have disappeared.

    character scars

Same here, as a DM and player. I've always imagined that clerical healing didn't leave any scars, but it's still cool to let players have cool scars (and the stories that go with them) if that's there thing. If all healing magic left scars, the average 10th level adventurer would look *rough*...

Weapons you wished you'd see sometimes.

The film "Hero" really makes the spear look like a cool option. The poor, unloved spear. Short Sword and spiked gauntlet is a nifty combination too.

Can novels make or break a setting for you?

Is most fantasy/sci fi, in general, considered good? Can most fiction even be considered good? I've had the misfortunte to read quite a bit of bad fiction in my 32 (mostly lucid) years. It wasn't limited to one specific genre. Personally, I find a lot of the early Realms fiction to be really...

Can novels make or break a setting for you?

Sure. As far as the stuff published by WotC, I've enjoyed the following authors: Paul Kemp (Forgotten Realms) Don Bassingthwaite (Eberron) Tim Waggoner (Eberron) As to the original question, quality of fiction doesn't really influence by decision on buying a setting.

    Prestige class focusning on Rays

You might want to check out the Magelord PRC from "Lost Empires of Faerun". It's another Sneak Attack + spellcasting class.

More upcoming titles has been released at the WotC site

How large are the maps? Are we talking 100x100' maps, or gigantic multi-page poster maps? Also, would you buy a product called "Kinda Sorta OK Locations"? ;)

More upcoming titles has been released at the WotC site

Do the "Fortress" and "Spire" adventures have handy conversion notes for other settings (ie. Forgotten Realms or Eberron) similar to the notes in "Red Hand of Doom"?

How Far Are Gamers Willing to Stretch D&D?

Sounds like a cool setting to me. Two of my favorite things in the whole, wide world are Wuxia and Spaghetti Westerns. I wouldn't have a problem with this as a D&D setting as opposed to a D20 Modern (or other system). Spellslinger and Dragonstar were two other "genre busting" settings that...

D&D 3.x Deepwood Sniper PrC - How Easy To Use In a 3.5E Game?

It works fine as is, IMO. You can have "more or less than typical concealment, and modify the miss chance accordingly", so the 30% reduction in miss chance is still somewhat useful. The ability may not be as big a deal as it was in 3.0, but it's still useful, especially if your DM frequently...

    [Feb] What are you reading?

Just finished Steven Brust's "Dzur". Great book, but I'm a huge Brust fan so I'm probably biased. I've started reading Del Rey's new(ish) R.E. Howard Solomon Kane collection. Very well done and complete (just like the Del Rey Conan stuff) with excellent interior illustration.
