    Starting gold at higher levels

I don't think that's something in the SRD (along with starting gold for a 1st level character). EnWorld is pretty strict about making sure we don't post stuff that's not Open Content.

    D&D v3.5 books pulled from DriveThruRPG.com

Nothing I know of. All the stuff from "big" companies is watermarked if copy protected at all.

Would the D&D brand manager please stand up.

It's not official but we can actually talk about Wizards of the Coast novels (!) AND we have a search function. ;) Anyway, it certainly isn't something I'd expect a WotC employee be required to do, but it would be a shame if the company didn't even bother to keep an eye on the largest...

    Save My Game

The play style here is so alien to me I can't really quite wrap my brain around it. In various games I've played our PCs, the "heroes", have rushed headlong in to situations where there was a good chance some or all of them would be killed. That's kind of what heroes are expected to do when...

Would the D&D brand manager please stand up.

I don't really have any comments on what Wizards is or isn't doing with new products or Paizo stuff, but it does seem like WotC is a lot less involved on these forums than they were a few years ago. It seemed like we had a lot more contact with the folks in both the design and business side of...

I am going to be running Rappan Athuk this weekend

Yeah, uh, you may want to make sure your group has a few backups in the wings so they aren't just sitting around watching others play. I'd also make sure that your players are "on board" with the style of play that works best with RA. I'd even give them a little out of campaign "there's no...

Weapons you wished you'd see sometimes.

My Barbarian/Sorcerer is wielding a Great Axe just so the d12 can get out of the dice bag more often. I think the movie "300" is going to create an increased interest in the whole spear and shield thing.

City Survivor - And the Winner is...

Not a series. Just one book called "Curious George Joins the Blood War". Oddly enough, there was never a sequel.

    Anyone seen Dragon 352 yet?

Just to clarify, you don't like Glen Cook's writing? I've read a few of the Black Company books and while I don't think the writing is particularly good, I've certainly read worse. Much worse, actually. Back to the stuff about the Dragon mag: What sort of extra-planar critters...

    [Complete Scoundrel] Improved Skirmish feat...

I agree. I never really saw the Scout as overpowered and I certainly don't think Improved Skirmish is enough to change that. I think it's a great class, but you'll still be doing more damage with a rogue built for two-weapon fighting using only core feats and a decent rank in the Tumble skill...

What would it take for you to be interested in a new (not reprint or rehash) setting?

I generally feel the same way. Unless a setting came out that was so completely and totally different than anything else out there AND it just happened to fit my tastes, I don't anticipate getting on board with another setting. It would have to be something so new and different that I can't...

    wepon companion

There's Ancestral Relic (I think that's the name) from Book of Exalted Deeds. As I recall, it lets you spend gold as an "offering" to basically emulate creating a magic weapon. I believe Dragon magazine had an article with an alternate class feature for a Paladin where you gave up the Mount...

amazon: Confessions of a Part-time Sorceress: A Hip Girl's Guide to the D&D Game

I agree. Next character I'm going to roll up is a Man Witch I'm also hoping that the "gamers are debased nerds with no lives or social skills" thing moves on over to the MMORPG crowd. Wait, it already did, didn't it? My self esteem would be really bad if it weren't for LARP'ers and MMORPG...

    What should I get?

I use Complete Adv. constantly. Of all the books (excluding the DMG, PHB and MM) this and Player's Handbook 2 probably get used the most. CA has some great feats, nice new uses for existing skills and some nifty prestige classes that are easy to plug in to an existing campaign.

    Recommend a new game!

Unknown Armies or maybe some Call of Cthulhu/ Delta Green?

    Make a paladin better!

If the mount won't see much use, there's a Variant Class feature in PHB II that replaces the Poke-mount. On a slightly related note, I swear I saw something that replaced the mount with a weapon that increased in power in the same manner. You could also summon and dismiss it. If I *did*...

    Wuxia and D&D

I'm still waiting for Dragonfist. I"m hoping it's going to be True 20 when it comes out.

    Make a paladin better!

Don't know about Prestige Classes, but some nice feats are good old Power Attack + Cleave, Extra Smiting, Extra Turning, Divine Might (last three from Complete Warrior), or Sanctify Strike (Book of Exalted Deeds). Paladins can be pretty tough if you've got good stats.

Why won't WOtC let another company publish...

Just a guess, but I'd imagine WotC would license out Planescape or Dark Sun if someone offered enough money for them. Another guess, if I were WotC I'd want to make sure that the company using my IP would meet high standards in both content and production. Are there many companies out there...

Cool Uses of Music During Gaming

Our current campaign is more episodic and a bit less character-driven than the previous one. We had various tracks that are indelibly burned in to my brain in association with dramatic events in the previous games. Since the game was very dramatic and frequently dark, the tracks really took on...
