    Epic Monsters: Chupacabra (5E)

Yeah noting they are small creatures that attack goats in legend, I've never pictured one the size of a horse that is designed to take down packs of elephants.

John Wick Presents Lays Off 7th Sea Staff

Eh, I've known Wick for 15+ years and he has tolerate/dislike relationship amongst most of the gaming community around here. It's a rare person that genuinely says "I enjoy playing anything with him" in my personal experiences. As mentioned previously, he has very strong "I'm always right"...

    Memorable Beholder solo encounters?

Karazikar in the Vast Oblivium is a pretty decent beholder encounter within "Out of the Abyss"

    Memorable Beholder solo encounters?

Have the encounter be in a large shaft with platforms that criss cross it, or floating platforms, etc (better yet if they are magical platforms). The beholder can disintegrate or turn it's anti-magic ray on them to drop characters. Have flying creatures assisting the beholder, not as high end...

Desert of Desolation Covert to 5e

Nothing needs to be fixed for it to fit into 5e. Patriarchies are a real part of some fantasy territories and don't need to be changed as written. If the PC's want to actively work to change that, awesome, let them. Matriarchies can also exist (see all drow culture). Secondly, if you own the...

Take Your First Look At The Upcoming ALTERNITY RPG!

If you have a computer the printer is attached to, can't you read it on that? Also, get it printed two sided in black and white if you need it printed.

Take Your First Look At The Upcoming ALTERNITY RPG!

It's a shame they stuck with the messy and convoluted skill system trying to emulate the original version. 20 - (Skill + stat) = Success +5, +10 for various levels. They should have made it Target number 20/25/30, and you roll a D20 and add your bonus... it's much cleaner and much easier to...

D&D 5E (2014) Slow Natural Healing in actual play

Our group uses the following: Long Rest: You gain half your hit dice and the benefits of a short rest [you can spend hit dice for healing]. No hit points are recovered naturally. Short rest: You may only gain the benefits of two of these per day (outside of the long rest). This system seems to...

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D Beyond video on Mind Flayers

It would make sense as the introduction for the Psionics supplement to have Mind Flayers, Githz/y etc being introduced with them. Mind Flayers kinda feel naked in the system without psionics currently.

    D&D 5E (2014) Fun & Engaging House Rules

Rather than type them all out, I'm just linking to our house rules document :) We have modified little bits of a lot of things, including feats, classes, some healing spells, magic item creation, paladin alignments, etc...

Keep us updated before the next one and maybe some of us could come join :)

Kazakhstan Has First Ever Tabletop RPG Convention

What I find great about it is... they already have a higher level of gender representation at their conventions than we seem to in the U.S. :)

Unearthed Arcana June Unearthed Arcana: Druid Shepherd, Fighter Cavalier, and Paladin of Conquest

That is fair, I could see that interpretation made. It would still work with Aura of Vitality and such spells (not every round but still enough of an extra boost to full heal parties very quickly and easily.

Unearthed Arcana June Unearthed Arcana: Druid Shepherd, Fighter Cavalier, and Paladin of Conquest

That Unicorn spirit begs for a multiclass with Life Cleric. Goodberries to heal 40 hit points, + everyone gains Druid level in hit points? Seems pretty strong to me :) Going super healing multi-class spam is strong also... Cleric 2 / Druid 2 / Bard X - for full party healing with a single...

D&D 5E (2014) So How Long Will 5E Last For?

I would ideally like to just see a drop in replacement for the PHB that fixes many of the unbalanced spells, replaces the broken archetypes/classes, adds a few new ones, fixes the OP/UP feats, etc. "We are using PHB 2 in this campaign" makes it super easy. It's compatible with the rest of the...

D&D 5E (2014) Resting and the frikkin' Elephant in the Room

Oh, I agree, and hence why we put the house rule in place (and it rarely comes up). The hard limit changes mindsets for the strategy gamer (which I tend to be to some degree). It becomes a limited resource to be managed, as opposed to an unlimited to use as often as possible.

D&D 5E (2014) Resting and the frikkin' Elephant in the Room

Another option would be to have a conversation with the players and say "hey guys, I'm trying to offer you guys a reasonable challenge, but I feel the resting issue is getting in the way of that". One of the house rules in my home game is to allow the benefit of just two short rests a day. They...

D&D 5E (2014) What is a Rakshasas place in the Nine Hells

I think I want to run with an idea where each time a Rakshasa dies, they are taken back to the hells and reborn, using one of the legendary 9 lives cats are assumed to be born with. Rakshasa, actually are the origin though, and hence where the legend/mythology started. Each time a Rakshasa...
