    I Have 8 20th Level Characters -- Now What?

Eight 20th level players!!! Get an assistant DM.

Responsibility for fun: DMs and/or/vs. Players

Fair? I dunno, but that's just how it is. It's up to the DM to make sure everyone has fun, b/c the DM can so easily make his players not have fun. If a player likes hack-n'-slash and the DM doesn't give it to him, that player will not have fun. I think people's play-styles are a real...

A Very Deep Valley: How Weird a Climate Can I Get?

Maybe it's just really cold everywhere except in the valley. If there was less atmosphere than Earth, a 4 mile deep canyon might be the only hospitable place. I think there was a Larry Niven novel w/a planet like that. Although, that sounds kinda like the inverse of what you're going for.

    Creatures not in the SRD?

Whoa. I'd love to know the name of that short story. I think I read it in elementary school. It was like some goofy tentacle-puma that leeched the potassium out of some astronauts.?

How do the Wealth Guidelines affect your style of play?

I don't really pay attention to the wealth guidelines for how much treasure, mundane equipment, real estate, livestock, artwork, or whatever else the PCs accumulate. I prefer to control things by limiting the availability of magic items to buy and sell. As long as their equipment is around...

Would you give your 2nd level party 30 thousand gold?

I'd give a 2nd level party 30k, no problem. You have lots of time to slowly get them back in line w/standard wealth as they advance levels- by extra expenses, less treasure or whatever. It's not like a few +1 items would destroy the campaign. Now giving a 15th level level party 8 times the...

What monster killed your first PC?

Horde of Zombies. 3rd Level Ranger. 1984. AD&D.

Is a coup de grace an evil act?

It totally depends on your facial expression as you do it. Solemn, determined, and maybe tinged w/regret? Not evil. Gleeful and laughing? Evil.

What are the biggest rules debates?

Undead do not sleep, breathe, or eat. So vampires don't have to drink blood, they just like to. :)

Help. Eastern mysticism is impenetrable to me

First, you should watch the Mr. Vampire movies if you haven't seen them already. Well, to start off I'd replace material components with paper amulets.

    Are PCs completely unpredictable?

I can predict their actions about 30% of the time. Just enough to lure me into thinking I can guess what's going to happen next and prepare all the wrong notes.

    fast question

Amulet of mighty fists, eh? Just checked the SRD. I was using the 3.0 DMG and it has no such item. Thanks guys.

    fast question

If a monster used magic gauntlets would it get a bonus to its claw attack? If not, is there an item that can give bonuses/special abilities to a natural attack? I really want to make a troll w/some flaming claws of speed.

    Hit point generation methods

Yeah, but what hat generating method do you use? When I DM, I let the players take avg HP if they roll below average. They're just too fragile otherwise.

3e and the Test of Time

I see lots of people complain about 3rd ed. doesn't have any flavor, and that seems weird to me. It's got triple-templated monsters, and tons of prestige classes and class combinations, and interesting fighting styles. The rules may be presented in a more dry, technical manner b/c there's so...

    The DM's Percentage

I sort of don't believe in originality, so I'm voting 10%. :) However, I never use pre-written adventures.

    Round-Robin Campaign

I played a rotating GMs campaign for a about a year. It worked out ok, but not great. There were ALOT of loose threads, b/c every new GM would ignore the parts of the prior week's game that didn't interest him, so it was hard to keep a coherent storyline going. There was a constant parade of...

Why is "videogame" a bad word?

Videogames not an art? You've never seen me play Halo. I'm like Michelangelo with a needler.

The slippery slope of house rules. When are there too many?

I use a lot of house rules for character generation/advancement (variant classes, BaseDefBonus, different races, etc.), but not many house rules for the gameplay itself.
