    Defining its own Mythology

Did you bother reading Hussar's post, or are you just trying to perpetuate the argument now?

Probably because he's a tool and a fat jerk.

So my memory isn't that bad after all. Thanks Hussar.

You win the thread, and I want to be Peace.

Unintended(?) Consequence of No More X-Mas Tree?

As long as it isn't causing your blade to burst into flames and other such flashy and overtly magical powers, I don't see giving fighters stuff to put them on par with wizards a causing problem with low magic.

Unintended(?) Consequence of No More X-Mas Tree?

No, but in this case, aren't you modifying a monster not to create a unique individual so much as your adjusting what a dragon can and can't do under D&D? Is Smaug really an atypical dragon that has to be uniquely modeled, or are we just using Smaug as an example of what kinds of dragons one...

Unintended(?) Consequence of No More X-Mas Tree?

True, but that doesn't really look like the dragon I imagined when I read the legend, nor does it look like the kind of Dragon whose death would be considered miraculous. Thanks for avoiding the question. Smaug is still frikking huge. Under 3E Dragon rules, any correct depiction of Smaug's...

    Wizards, Naruto, and Game Balance

I really don't see that as a boundary when one of your hobbies involves pretending you're an Elf Wizard a few nights a week. We can argue for the maturity of role-playing all we want, but it's still basically make-believe. You just might be on to something.

Unintended(?) Consequence of No More X-Mas Tree?

Itself often smaller than Saint George himself, and even with a suitably sized dragon, you're stretching your CR limits to the breaking point, and those are built around the assumption that an entire party is taking on the target, not just a single fighter. Of course, it was a miracle, and that...

What I don't get RE: FR and High Level NPC's

You better get registered first. ;) Honestly, I love the Realms, and I love the Realms NPCs. I think they give the world more verisimilitude. After all, if people have been adventuring around for the last couple of thousand years, uncovering the ruins from a few thousand years before that...

Unintended(?) Consequence of No More X-Mas Tree?

Medieval era depictions with little regard for scale, perspective or proportion. Are your castles only 5 or 6 feet tall? Can they only fit an archer or three on their towers? DR means those other archers wouldn't be able to inflict any damage. You're right, though, the black arrow would...

Unintended(?) Consequence of No More X-Mas Tree?

I think his point was writers only point out stuff that is going to develop the narrative. What you're saying about magic items can be applied to guns, laptops, toothbrushes or anything. What you are describing with your wizard example is characterization via props, an exceedingly common tool...

    The Mortal God

They destroyed her Stay Puffed avatar, weakening her to the point where they could kill her, but only by crossing the streams.

Unintended(?) Consequence of No More X-Mas Tree?

I think this is most important. RC's system works fine for a REH style world where dragons are just dinosaurs and demons are (apparently) just mildly vicious spirits (though I suspect that Conan D20 works even better), but the minute you want to start emulating a whole host of other "low magic"...

    One setting per year?

The cloth map is actually from the second boxed set. :) I framed mine.

    One setting per year?

He didn't sound very snarky to me. I think we're getting too touchy around here.

    The Mortal God

This. I'm kinda hoping this means the only path to greater power after level 30 is to become a god.

Thanks :) Didn't he end up using that sword to off him, though? (And no, I'm confusing Xaltotun with Thulsa Doom from the movie, hehe.)

    Defining its own Mythology

Well, I never said I wasn't rusty on my Conan. :) Aww, hell, for Sh*ts & giggles, you never accounted for Xaltotun. Could Conan kill him under your rules? (I'm obviously rusty on this one, but I'm pretty sure he chopped that dude down.)
