Reminder. 4e was released nearly two decades ago. It's playstyle (apparently?) can now be found in Draw Steel.

I chuckled but thats hilariously dismissive of a style of game and play which many enjoyed far more than the 'New and Improved' game that set Wizards up for thinking they may only get to release one more version before the lights are turned off.

Sure, thats fine. Plenty of people disagreed and found that the redesign was not worth what was lost, enough in fact to support a company.

I dont think so. I think it was designed to maybe hit some of those, but to also remodel how the game was designed. If it was 'just address the issues' we would have seen 3.75 (PF1) instead. 4e is its own branch of the tree completely.

Its a safe place here... :D I get it, but I remember playing my sons account (oops!) to drag him out of the pit of Silver ranked players. Every team was a bunch of 'dps superstars' who sucked. If they had 2 players swap (Tank/Support) every one of them would have ranked up. You cannot play...

For sure it does, and this was what my mind was on last night. I'm pretty notorious for filling in MP games. I was always Tank or Support in Overwatch for example, I played a Shaman or Paladin in Vanilla/Classic/TBC/Wrath for WoW. I see that as 'adjusting to the game', and as the smart thing...

In an ideal world, is the Patron not simply a part of the same world (cosmology) anyway? Why does the story need to adjust for what should already be there?

Many many people have adjusted to play 5e. Many many people also (as per this thread) want something different.
