I think the reason is those fits and starts. Depending on who you ask (and I would be one) 5e, is a mess, it lacks focus, it lacks intentional design. A lot of that can be tightened up to make it the game it actually wants to be, and yeah that would be more narrative if I was a betting man.

No, it means its clean, simple, easy to understand at a glance.

The thread is a hypothetical 6e. To not consider the largest (most likely) cohort of "D&D" players, would be folly. If you dont think the vast majority would balk at 'Elf' instead of 'Elf Fighter' well...I think they clearly would.

I think their ancestry design is far more elegant than D&D.

OK, so games are starting at higher than 1? You just filtered them out?

I think that's the fault of Wizards. They absolutely could have provided adventures that start at higher level. Looking at the ocean of content out there, it's weird of Wizards actually and just another black mark on their management of the game.

Wizards are still most flexible, Warlocks are actually fairly unique in design? That's all I've got lol
