D&D General The Player's Quantum Ogre: Warlock Pacts

You've made mention of a mighty tome of houserules more than once, is that not part of it? Besides, you make of point of showing how different Level up is all the time. Its not 5/5.5 D&D.

D&D General The Player's Quantum Ogre: Warlock Pacts

Yeah but you are not playing 5/5.5, your version of D&D has zero relation to the vast majority of players in likely tone, mechanics, experience, or expectation.

And this is why I can easily let it go (the pact having an impact) in 5/5.5. The default core experience has nothing about it, its just a fluff ribbon, and 5/5.5 doesnt have any real narrative weight anyway, so sure, handwave it, move on and get back to the core gameplay loop.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

    What's Your Price Limit?

For physical product, my limit is pretty high. Way higher than the typical retail of an RPG book.

In 5e/5.5? Without a doubt, as noted previously the game doesnt even mechanically do anything with the patron, its fluff.

D&D General Why do people like Alignment?

No of course not, I don't either, but when I DM, I'm the final word, just as my friend is when he DMs. Such is how the world works.

Considering the game which gets the lions share of attention, the one this thread started being about? That has game directors, art directors, lead writers, VPs, and managers?

Wizards of the Coast Head Explains Benefits to D&D Franchise Model

I mean the statement is/was true. They sit on a great IP, and cannot even cross promote or merchandise it properly. It's actually amusingly bad.

D&D General Why do people like Alignment?

Anything of great enough scale, anything commercial, is going to have leadership, and a hierarchy. Yes, you can small teams create something truly collaborative, but well, there is almost always a lead, a song writer, the face, the manager, whatever you want to call it, that says 'this is the...
