    Warlock: Eldritch Blast

Would you consider using a minor invocation that deals ~7(~10 at level 4) damage and Intoxicates the target for a round?

    Warlock: Eldritch Blast

No, the Fighter is supposed to be the best at fighting. Most damage does not equal best at fighting. Even if it did, a greatsword/axe Fighter is currently one of the top sustained damage dealers, only beaten out by a Thug Tactics Rogue with two allies in melee with the target or a Rogue with...

    Warlock: Eldritch Blast

I've done the comparison math (Some of it is in these posts: Fighter vs Warlock and Rogue DPR) and as it currently stands, a Fighter is the superior damage dealer if he is focused on dealing damage in melee, and comparable to superior if focused on dealing damage at range. So it may actually be...

D&D 5E (2014) So did they just drop modularity ? This is what has me worried.

Currently it is rather easy to convert the wizard into a spellpoint caster that prepares spells. Use the Sorcerer's willpower per level chart as the Wizard's spellpoints per level. Use the Sorcerer's spells known chart as the Wizard's max number of prepared spells. Use the Wizard Spells per Day...

    Fighter

What I was saying was that I could see a combat maneuver (possibly in a "Harrier" fighting style) that had the same effect without creating a "Marked" condition. My expected maneuver would probably look like this:

    Sorcerer vs Wizard

Listen again. Mike (I think it was Mike that said that) says "... uses spells from the wizard list." not uses the complete list.

    Fighter

I could see a combat maneuver that would give the target disadvantage when attacking someone other than the Fighter.

    Sorcerer vs Wizard

That is because Spell Disruption has been moved to the Spell rules in the How to Play pdf. All spell casters have to make a DC 10 Dex check when casting in melee unless the spell targets something within 5 feet or creates an area of effect that includes a square within 5 feet of the caster.

    The Sorc: I like it!

While reading through the Draconic Heritage write up these guys came to mind. If they were one of the inspirations for the heritage I do not mind.

    Sorcerer vs Wizard

He is subject to spell disruption and must still follow the rules of casting spells, and the wizard isn't effected by being silenced either currently. The wizard also has a much wider variety of spells. The wizard has access to Charm Person, Grease, Sleep, Thunder wave, Counter Spell, Flaming...

Sorcerers should use Con not Cha

Part of the problem is that the English words Sorcerer, Warlock and Wizard are all synonyms. They all mean to an extent magic user. Outside of the limited amount fiction that wants to make a distinction between them, they get used interchangeably. What "fiction" or "pop culture" would you use...

    Holy and Unholy Damage

Holy and Unholy are not necessarily tied to Good and Evil. They just deal with what is considered sacred and what is considered profane. A good question to ask is: "Is a dark god's power holy or unholy?" If a dark god's power is "unholy" then Holy/Unholy pertain to Good/Evil. If a dark god's...

Cackling Manaically at the 13 Aug Legends and Lore

I'm all for spells having variable recharge periods, as long as the Wizard is preparing/choosing all his spells at the beginning of the day.

    Warlock and Sorcerer

So? You can spend an action to take half damage till the end of your next turn, and on your next turn you can make an attack to deal 4d6 damage. It is not like you are doing both at the same time. In fact a 1st level Rogue can do something similar(and possibly better) an unlimited number of...

What advantage does Force damage have over any other type currently?

    Warlock and Sorcerer

A level 1 Fighter with Str 17 and a Greatsword deals 13 damage (6.5 weapon + 3 Str + 3.5 expertise) average per hit. A level 1 Warlock with Int 17 deals 10.5 average per hit with Eldritch Blast. A level 3 Fighter with Str 17 and a Greatsword deals 14 damage average per hit. A level 4 Warlock...

    Warlock and Sorcerer

The Draconic Sorcerer is very Magic Knightish. I'm guessing that Dragon Breath is something like an 8th level power but accidentally slipped in.

Which ever class gets spellpoints, I hope they price the point costs by spell effect rather than by spell level.

[playtest 2] Distressed by rogue damage

Thug Tactics does seem to be where the actual problem lies. The designers maybe underestimating the ease of having the target in reach of 2 allies, but at the same time we may be overestimating it. That said, making Thug Tactics only grant half SA damage unless the Rogue has Advantage maybe...
