    Elder Rage Drake

Yeah, one more good Encounter power would really make your guy, I think. Just brainstorming, no thought of "balance" yet, here's some ideas: Roar, fear, burst/blast, weakens (save ends) Pin, special attack vs prone target Savage, special attack vs prone or grabbed target Some kind of...

    Elder Rage Drake

It was a very different take on the same basic idea, so I thought you'd enjoy it by way of comparison! ;) Other than that, yours looks pretty cool. I like the Draconic Fury one, really gets it in touch with its draconic heritage. Compare him with the L3 Solo Young White Dragon, though, and he...

    Elder Rage Drake

I've got one which I've been riding as a Mount, which my DM has had level up with the party, leaving his as follows: Fang Level 13 Brute Large Natural Beast (mount, reptile) XP 800 Initiative +9 Senses Perception +9 HP 160; Bloodied 80 AC 25; Fortitude 25, Reflex 23, Will 23 Immune fear...

    Stun

I think in our game its a problem with rounds taking too long in general: one of our DM's timed it and we were at 17 minutes a round .. 34 minutes is a long time to go without a turn even if you do get a slice of pizza. ;) If our game went quicker, I'd probably feel differently.

    Stun

Fair enough, fair enough: I should have said "use with discretion" or "use sparingly", not "steer clear of". I meant it more as a caution for a beginning DM than a "don't use it at all". Still, I do prefer Dazed, Slowed, Weakened, and Dominated as means of reducing the party's strength while...

    Adjudication for Dwarf Tossing

Right, but the only RAW power a Grab grants is the ability to Pull the target as a Move action. Surely "Throw" ought to count as "Slide", especially if we're talking about an unwilling target. :) To your other questions, I'd say: - Damage applies to both projectile and target. - Damage...

    Enchant magic item

Yep. You'll probably want to have a conversation with your DM about what that looks like, exactly - some DM's play a world where you can just trot down to the local Item Shop and buy anything in the Character Builder, but others want to have Magic Items be a little more rare and a little harder...

Exploding Undead Minions Falling From The Sky

Actually I really enjoyed the encounter our DM tossed at us on Saturday. Our party druid is locked in an epic battle with a particular forest spirit gone evil, and we learned that a potential NPC ally was in trouble .. deep in the evil forest. A teleportation Circle got us within a mile or so...

    Adjudication for Dwarf Tossing

In all seriousness, our campaign has twice had a character leaping onto another from great height. The rules we decided on were basically: Standard Action: Strength or Dexterity vs Reflex to hit. Hit: Both attacker and target take falling damage for the fall. Target is pushed one square...

    Come and (Don't) Get It?

Yeah. Mine. Partly because I had trouble "liking" Come and Get It from a fluff perspective, and partly because we're playing a story not a tabletop wargame. The power-gamer in me argues passionately to retrain to it every single time I level up ;), but I've managed to resist so far (now Level...

Count me inspired, both of you! ;)

    Dragon encounter...

Good, I think solo was the right choice, it was just the addition of PC #3 that tipped the balance. ;) Your "Second Wind" choice was a good compromise choice. Our group tends to let the DM handwave a "5-minute rest" between any two encounters he feels like .. but we're also a very "story" based...

    Stun

    1. You can't take opportunity actions, etc, when its not your turn. 2. When it is your turn, you do nothing except make that crucial saving throw, and hope for a 10. ;) Seriously, its a very powerful power; if you're a DM, you want to steer clear of monsters with it because it really sucks...

    Dragon encounter...

Yeah, the kobolds in the service of the white dragon is pretty much a classic - in fact, its the premise of the "Kobold Hall" adventure at the back of the DMG. :D Did you downgrade the dragon(s) from "Solo" to "Elite", or did you keep it at Solo strength? Also, did you treat it as one big...

    Party AC difference

We've definitely run into this problem, but I'm not sure what the solution is. Part of it was, playing the only Defender in a party with ranged leader/striker support, I wound up taking the brunt of the attacks, so I wound up in an "AC vs Attack Bonus" arms race with the DM: taking any feat...

    Trap Door Spiders Don't Work

Cool. I'd suggest you nail those down before-hand, maybe something like: Either Side - Hide covering has 12 hit points, AC 10, vulnerable 5 fire, resist 5 cold, and immune poison, necrotic. - Hide covering starts with Perfect Concealment (cannot be spotted or targeted). Each time it is...

    Dragon encounter...

You're welcome. I think it would've probably been balanced around two L4 PC's, as you found three L4 PC's plus the L5 drake were a bit much for the L3 solo (L3 solo = 4 L3 characters) .. as you discovered, two L3 solos were a bit much for that party. Three L3 PC's plus the L5 Drake might have...

    Combat takes way too long?

The other suggestions I've got are all table-mechanics items: - Put the Initiative Order in a public location; we use a white board. - Put all status effects in a public location (prone, immobile, etc). - Use Character Builder character sheets. - Pre-calculate all your bonuses so people aren't...

    Combat takes way too long?

It is sort of one of the design assumptions of the game: 1st level humans and humanoids have 25-30 hit points or so. A sword does d8 damage - when you hit with it, you're not laying a deep gash into his side, you're barely connecting, drawing blood but not incapacitating. Three such hits, and...

    Dragon encounter...

Sounds good so far, mate. I'd probably drop the damage for falling on the ice, myself, because I've found that hindering terrain, in general, is bad enough for the PC's. I like that you've gone with "shift is safe / automatic, actually moving is harder", that feels like a good mechanic. If this...
