Dex helps a little at the low levels, and it's pretty useful to all classes. But no amount of dex is going to save you if the DM gets a few lucky rolls. HP is more likely to; that 1 extra point amounts to 1 more round before you hit -10, if worse comes to worse.

50d6 hit dice by L32? The tarrasque is a 80 or so, according to that one dragon article. Monsters from the epic level handbook probably belong in that range.. especially when they have even more hit dice than the Big T does.

If you want to be really weird, use an advanced half-dragon gelugon. Technically a dragon, but a whole 'nother beast altogether at the same time. Non-generic outsiders can be brutal opponents.
