    To Hell with Dungeons & Dragons ! ! !

How come D&D has remained stunted while WoW has exploded? Nerd is the word, in case you haven't heard.

D&D 4E My homebrew 4E, suggested for the next edition

Yes, works fine if you're a DM with a spine, like me and you. However, I've recently discovered a cluster of DMs who try to do the roll-your-hp thing, and crumble when players cry "I only rolled a 3!" Better if the rules inoculate against this, and firmer DMs can implement houserules that they...

    To Hell with Dungeons & Dragons ! ! !

I agree that I like edgy things. But what elements exactly are we talking about? Polytheism/paganism? Already got it. Ghosts, goblins, demons, devils, witches? Got those. Violence, gore, torture? Yep, got those. Drugs and alcohol? Hmm, D&D could use more of those, in my opinion. And let's...

Yer candidate for the monster on 5th MM1

Cast Raise Dead on a Game Element!

I would like the 9-fold alignment system back, please. I did enjoy the foray into cutting back the alignments; it was fun to see Chaotic Good and Neutral Good join up into team Good. So split them up again, but maybe they can still have some affinity for each other.

    Rule Zero?

They should print it on every page of every 5E product.

    Let's collect the fantasy archetypes

Gunslinger Defined by: he or she has a gun. In D&D: fighter or ranger under optional firearms rules. Pathfinder's gunslinger class. Examples: Roland from Stephen King's Dark Tower series Dragon Rider Defined by: he or she rides a dragon. This is different from the horse/other steed rider...

Why Isn't Planescape the Default Setting?

Annoying, but I see your point. And I half agree. I think one of those two settings should be touted as the core setting for D&D. I just happen to like Planescape better.

Zombies that need to stay dead. DEAD.

Okay. I never saw different XP for different classes, so I don't know how that would work. Favoured class is not a problem for me either way. I like the idea of there being some reward for picking desirable combinations, something to counterbalance the thinking of "always go with the race that...

Why Isn't Planescape the Default Setting?

I haven't interacted with that many Planescape fans, but of the ones that I have interacted with, I find they're most open with regard to what counts as Planescape's established conventions. If you find something works differently than you thought, chalk it up to planar misinformation. Any...

    Let's collect the fantasy archetypes

Guy On a Horse Defined by: He's riding a horse. In D&D: Cavalier, Paladin, Fighter with Mounted Combat. Examples: The guy from the Old Spice commercial.

Why Isn't Planescape the Default Setting?

It seems to me as if Planescape is the natural core and default setting. For one thing, Planescape leads to all other settings, so if you really wanted One Setting to Rule them All, Planescape would be it. With all these other default setting worlds, you kind of have to do some maneuvering to...

    Let's collect the fantasy archetypes

Aristocrat Defined by: a range of skills and abilities taught from an early age, including Diplomacy, knowledge of many fields, especially history and nobility. Depending on culture, may include fighting, horsemanship, marksmanship, etc. Marked for leadership, greatness. Destined for a throne...

    Let's collect the fantasy archetypes

Secular Healer / Doctor / Surgeon Defined by: a near-supernatural ability to heal, but specifically not of supernatural origin. Intelligent, scientific, empathic, curious, rational. In D&D: no precedent. Examples: Hypatia of Alexandria, Dr. McCoy from Star Trek, Dr. Watson from Sherlock Holmes...

The new D&D Core: The "80/100" rule

I hate to sound like a broken record, but I think the solution to all these problems is Open Gaming. Open up the core rules to tinkering, and you will create a marketplace of ideas. The rules can be terrible, and it will still work. In fact, it's probably better if there are deliberate mistakes...

Psionics Module: How soon is too soon?

I want it yesterday, please. (by which I mean I want it so fast as to defy the laws of physics and already be here. Not, as you might have thought, that I just want to use the old ruleset from a figurative "yesterday" meaning the past)

Should we get rid of demons and devils?

Just to be clear, the original post here is the textbook definition of trolling. I don't mean that as an insult, and I happen to agree with the original poster's message behind the message, but a spade is a spade.

Should we get rid of demons and devils?

This thread is an important reminder not to let what you think would affect sales also affect your judgment. When you get a chance to give feedback on the game, whether it's in a forum or in WotC's own feedback system, give them honest feedback on the stuff you actually like. Don't go on what...

Bring back the exposed boobs on the Monsters!

I am not experiencing any lack of boobage in my life, online and off. That's what makes this issue so strange to me. D&D is larger than real life in every other way, with awesome characters doing awesome things. Except sexuality. Because they have none.

    Where do we give feedback?

Getting some actual feedback to WotC is going to take a bit of work on your part. Have you signed up for the playtest? I expect they will be sending email to all of us with more stuff that we can give actual feedback on. The thing that seems to be going on here on ENWorld, is the community...
