    DM Help: Puzzle vault

This is the only part that I think might be difficult. If you want them to actually figure it out, you might want to get another clue for this in there somewhere. Method of entry can be as difficult or even more difficult than finding the answer at times. I certainly stumped my players on...

    Thoughts on Hybrid Classes?

I look forward to Hybrid classes. Multiclassing gives you a spritz of a few abilities, but not until you do paragon multiclassing do you really even start to get a hybrid role - and that's only if you get a role-defining at-will power from the class. The thing is, for every role, except the...

What R your house rules for dead PCs' replacements?

Mine is you can make a new character same level, with standard gear of that level, if the party keeps none of the previous gear (IE, you're not being rewarded for dying) or you can join up at the same level with no gear, and keep your old gear as party loot. Basically, it's very much in the...

D&D 4E What levels have you played at in 4E?

Well for purpose of the poll I do think the distinction was necessary. When you come down to breaking it down to level, I find that it's easier to think about what level you've played as a player than DMing. DMing seems very similar through the levels while playing can be quite a different...

D&D 4E Nintendo DS homebrew 4e game aids.

The concept I had would have had 5 tabs, minus your 2nd tab. The real treasure would be in the powers tab, which allows drag and drop usage on the lower screen, while the upper screen details the specifics of the ritual. *** Pfhoenix, 64 sprites is a lot for such a small resolution...

D&D 4E What levels have you played at in 4E?

Would that DMing for a group at that level or playing as a player at that level? Either one? One or the other? I haven't played on the player's end yet. I have DMed levels 1-7 and now 11, as I just bumped my players up 4 levels (with an in-game reason for them reaching paragon - think Final...

D&D 4E Nintendo DS homebrew 4e game aids.

What kind of character sheet do you have that the DS couldn't handle? It handles 3d (on one screen at a time without a problem, to do both is harder as it has two processors, one more powerful than the other, each dedicated to a screen) and I think it was upto 64 sprites on the screen at a...

D&D 4E Any tips for speeding up the game? 4e is slowing me down!

I call it something a little different than that. I have some players who are pretty disturbing; I try to respond in kind. I call it the .

D&D 4E Nintendo DS homebrew 4e game aids.

There's a bunch of programs people have made, from auto-calculating character sheets to simulated dice rollers to monster creation and initiative trackers. I came up with this idea a few weeks ago, yet, it's been about 9 years since I last programmed anything; leaving me with barely anything to...

    Decrease Ritual Casting Times

This is the intention of speeding up casting times. The only incentive to ritual casting now is if you've exhausted every other option. If you want to spend the money on the reagents to ritual cast instead of doing a skill check, add a bit of flavor to the game for doing that via magic as...

    Monster Saving Throw Change.

I actually like the saving throw bonus along with all the solo/elite design. 3rd edition had a problem with making bad guys that actually lived long enough to be bad guys, but also that weren't so 'badass' that they could TPK by sneezing. I haven't used that many solo or elites, but when I do...

D&D 4E Any tips for speeding up the game? 4e is slowing me down!

I've run my game since June 13th on friday nights with exception to having a 3 week break in there; and it wasn't until last session that I got my players to speed up to something reasonable. One thing I did about a month ago, was make an initiative tracker. It's a vertical paper towel dowel...

"Skirmisher" - A Prime Shot equivalent for melee rangers

I'm not sure that melee rangers need that boost. Consider the following: Melee rangers get better sized off-hand weapons and toughness. Ranged rangers get combat mobility and can take advantage of prime shot. It might be a nice feat, but I probably wouldn't give it to the ranger for free.

Fixing Multiclassing v0.2 (Input and opinions much appreciated)

Yes, let's argue semantics, as that's the most productive use of our time. Given the premise of my post, it is a fact. If you disagree with the premise, it is not a fact. Context is important. ...and that's the most of arguing semantics I'll respond to.

Fixing Multiclassing v0.2 (Input and opinions much appreciated)

Thanks. That's at least what I'm trying to go for. An actual multiclass fix, not simply a rewrite of feats that don't quite let you multiclass. Balancing may make it not require it, but I think I like the idea of having a feat for it. As long as you require at least one multiclassing feat...

Fixing Multiclassing v0.2 (Input and opinions much appreciated)

Back in third edition, I didn't want a quick fix to level adjustments. I was prepared to rewrite every race. Unfortunately I didn't end up actually doing it. I was too busy with my life to be able to do it, but that didn't mean there wasn't a problem. This edition they chose to destroy...

Minor Houserules - Are they OK?

Ah. Well, that certainly works. I'm just not sure I think the benefits of a crit need an additional "you're kicking ass now, and you'll kick ass next turn because one of your encounter powers just came back." is the best mechanic, but if you and your friends are happy with it, who am I to argue?

Minor Houserules - Are they OK?

This one favors certain classes. Classes that do more multiple target effects or in particular. The ranger with Twinstrike gets two attempts at getting an encounter power back, and a wizard with thunderwave or scorching burst can get exponentially higher chances of getting encounter powers...

Make all encounter and daily powers "reliable"

All daily powers (or at least 99.9%) of them do something on a miss. Whether it's specifically Miss text or it's Effect text. Unscrupulous players may actually try to minimize their chances to hit with daily powers to get a free effect out of them. There's not much you can do IMHO other than...
