    September 11th memories

My thoughts probably won't be very popular, so if you're easily offended, maybe you should skip my post. --- I remember being angry. Angry at the evil people who could commit such an act. Angry at the US government, whose foreign policy, in my opinion, prompted these attacks. I wanted to be...

    Modern-day game settings and 9/11

I am reluctant to post to this thread, but I will anyway. I wouldn't touch on playing a game involving 9/11 with a ten-foot pole. The company that's cashing in with the D20 Afghanistan game is, in my opinion, run by people who are greedy and lack conscience. I would not sell my integrity, as...

    Thanks for downloading JH NameGen!

400+ people downloaded JH NameGen in its first day of availability. That far exceeded my expectations. I'd like to thank everyone who decided to give it a try. After you've had a chance to play with it a little, make sure to send me some feedback so I know what I can do to make it better for...

Mortality Radio Show - Do you listen? Why or Why not?

Honestly, I've never heard of it until this thread. So my reason for not listening is lack of awareness.

    TwentySiders system?

Of course, it does have the word "EverQuest" on it, which may help things a little. ;)

    Announcing JH NameGen...

As a treat for those who go to download JH NameGen, I have added another one of my creations to the page. Though it's not D20-related, BlockDrop is a fun little game for wasting some time.

What's up with all the 'evil' books lately?

Man, do you have a problem with me or something? Seriously, there's no need to get mean. Please be courteous enough to spell my name right, as I do yours. I disagree that a book on government is more generic than a book on evil. In fact, I would argue the opposite as "evil" is generic in...

What's up with all the 'evil' books lately?

Definitely! And what about how a magocracy would effect day to day life, compared to a standard monarchy or republic? Sure, in a monarchy you don't want to badmouth the king when there's anyone within earshot, but in a magocracy, they could be scrying on you at any moment.

What's up with all the 'evil' books lately?

So in other words, a theoretical book on governments is generic, but a book on evil isn't, because there's more types of evil than types of government? Something about that strikes me as wrong. Now, would anyone like to speculate on what the next big trend might be? I'm guessing alternate...

What's up with all the 'evil' books lately?

How is a book on government systems any more generic than a book on evil? Do I have to make it a book on evil governments to catch your eye?

What's up with all the 'evil' books lately?

Re: Re: What's up with all the 'evil' books lately? A government book could be pretty useful. I'd get a kick out of a book on asylums, too.

My original post names one. It was announced in the publisher's forum.

Do your characters wear their armor all day long?

My group uses the movement rules and a bastardized version of the encumbrance rules. Of course, we're pretty lenient in a lot of areas, as my group is more into it for the beer, pizza, and time away from their wives than the game itself.

Do your characters wear their armor all day long?

I don't bother my players about wearing their armor all the time because, in my opinion, though it might depend on your gaming group, it doesn't add anything to the game. Sure, it's more realistic, but is it more fun? In my gaming group's case, no.

What's up with all the 'evil' books lately?

Isn't it cheaper to pay a writer than pay a writer and pay for printing, only to have the book collect dust? Anyway, I don't really care. I was just curious as to why there were so many books with the same basic premise, rather than innovative ideas.

    TwentySiders system?

I think they intend it to look similar enough to the d20 logo so that people will think they're the same thing. Then, you can produce something that people will think is d20, but isn't restricted by the d20 license. Like, for instance, if you wanted to release something with character creation...

What's up with all the 'evil' books lately?

True. Throwing away half of a manuscript could be costly, but shouldn't they know whether their content is innovative or not well before that? What I mean is that all those "really bad guy" prestige classes are going to run together and start looking the same, but if I'm the only one to offer...

What's up with all the 'evil' books lately?

I don't know about you, but if I'm a d20 company, and I see five books on the same topic, I am going to write about something else unless I am sure that I can make something that will be able to set itself apart from the pack.
