Photos of the new Gnome (PHB2)

If it were lower resolution, I would say definitely yes, since that's covered under fair use. As it is, it falls under a quasi-legal area but, as the above poster says, its generally accepted as fair use if the author(s) give permission.

Who heals in a Druidic society?

No offense, but it seems to me that you're inventing the problem rather than dealing with one the 4e rules throw at you. It's not that I mind you choosing to fluff your setting differently - that's fine. But is there any real reason shamans can't fit into your druidic society, simply refluffed...

Who heals in a Druidic society?

What he said. Besides, when you get down to it all that "druid" and "shaman" really mean in real life are ethnic labels. There aren't any druids in history, for instance, that aren't Celtic and many people will also tell you that, in spite of ritual similarities, a shaman isn't a shaman if they...

Photos of the new Gnome (PHB2)

Charisma doesn't mean being noticeable when you don't want to be. It's about having control over how others percieve you, for better or worse. Don't forget, after all, that Disguise, in 3e, as well as Streetwise in 4e, are both Charisma-based skills. There's more than one way to go undetected...

UPDATE: New Drizzt vid & Sword Fighting blog

Alright, just saw it. Pretty impressive considering the budget. Like others, I think your fight choreography was the best part and you obviously spent a lot of effort on that. It's appropriate too, since action sequences are pretty much the highlight of Salvatore's work (not that his characters...

    PC Sacrifice

I'm with Mouse. I don't have a problem with the idea in principle - after all, isn't it often said that without risk there isn't any fun? But, to me, doing this sort of thing in what is literally the first third of the campaign seems anticlimatic to me. Maybe you're trying to get across the...

    Oots 630

He did say it was unlikely, not impossible. Since elves are "usually" chaotic good that would imply that, yes, he is correct and it is unlikely that V's family will be in the LG afterlife.

    On the matter of half-orcs

I [i[think[/i] (though I could be wrong) that you misinterpreted me. I didn't mean that I'm disgruntled by the lack of rape as an origin for half-orcs (or half-elves) but rather that I'm disgruntled that the developers that that, in order for half-orcs to exist, they had to come up with some...

    On the matter of half-orcs

I don't think that anybody denies that rape is a horrible, horrible crime. However, I think something has to be said that we, as a society choose to ignore it rather than deal with it like adults. I can't help but think that if we were more open in discussions of rape that we'd see a lot less of...

    Previews for February and Beyond

You're right in part about the swordmage getting less support - but don't forget they did show a preview of the class back in August (much like the PHB2 classes now) and also have the class available in the Compendium, even for those that don't own the FRPG. So yes, it's likely that, overall...

    Is 4E charmless?

I really don't get the whole FR is dead attitude. Some changes were made, a few really bad, a few for the better, and suddenly it's as though somebody raped their childhood. Actually, from what I've seen working on the FR Wiki WotC's marketing technique worked - there's more users contributing...

    Preview: The Sorcerer

Not really. I mean yes, they have the same spellcasting system, unlike in 3e where bards, sorcerers, warlocks, and wizards all had different styles of casting, but in terms of just about everything else - no, not really. From my experience in 4e wizards and warlocks feel very different, with...

    Is 4E charmless?

I suppose it depends entirely on what you mean by "charm." Personally, I find the art and design style of 4e to be very charming, much moreso than 3e. However, I can certainly see your point fluff-wise, as very little thought seems to be given towards universe fluff. While this makes sense for...

D&D 4E 4e Duergar PC Race (First Cut)

Excellent work, Melfast! That works much better in my opinion. I'll see if I can work it into a playtest for one of my games and give you feedback. As for the feats, I'll take a look at them at some point and let you know how I feel about them.

D&D 4E 4e Duergar PC Race (First Cut)

It is much improved and I could see playing this race or using it for a playtest. I like the +2 Con and +2 Int alot, but I still think you have one (just one) too many features. Don't forget that Dual Heritage counts as a full racial feature for half-elves - they don't get it plus as many...

D&D 4E 4e Duergar PC Race (First Cut)

I think that this is a pretty good race, all things considered. What sticks out to me though are two problems. First of all, having +2 Constitution and +2 Wisdom is more than a bit lazy. It just is. It makes duergar seem less different compared to dwarves than drow are from elves and eladrin...

    Ecology of the Genasi

I liked the article but did anyone else notice that besides using the name "genasi" the article had little to do with the Realms? At least insofar as the history part, which mentioned Bael Turath and the dragonborn empire - neither of which exist in the history of the Realms. So while this gave...

FR Circle War Spell Rituals - How can it be improved?

Hmm... on a second look it's true that circle spells don't quite as cool anymore. I like the idea of only the "lead" caster needing to know the spell and the others simply knowing a ritual. Here's a possible alternative. Circle Spell You and you fellow casters gather in a circle, chanting...

    Eladrin feats for half-elves

It wouldn't be wildly unbalancing no. Fluff-wise, though I don't see it as making a whole lot of sense. The whole point of splitting eladrin and elves into two different races was because they were so different. Making half-elves and half-eladrin the same thing sort of reverses that process.

    D&D 4E Ethnic Lineages (i.e., 4e subraces)

Though we really can't tell until the campaign settings come out I think it's a fair guess to say, from what we've seen, there won't be subraces as we know them in 4E. In some ways, this is a good thing. Subraces were often so varied and different that they were for all practical purposes a...
