    D&D 4E 4e Sorcerer Power Question

Neither of those are 'you got targetted' effects. Aegis of Assault is triggered by marked monsters attacking someone, not targetting someone, and likewise fighters can only mark targets they attack. Attack is explicitly defined, as anything you make an attack roll for. Which disallows incidental...

    D&D 4E 4e Sorcerer Power Question

Not sure that I really agree with you. The target entry of a power is explicit and defined (pg 57 PHB), however targetting in general has a seperate section (pg 272 PHB) where it talks in much vaguer terms and is referred to from other places that aren't related to powers. I much prefer to say...

    D&D 4E 4e Sorcerer Power Question

That seems like an overly literal interpretation. When I check, all the sources read like that which makes the riders of most powers (and even the primary functions of some powers) alot less useful: DM: "The Singe-Bearded Ogre hits you for 15 damage." Player: "I use Dragonflame Mantle when he...

    D&D 4E 4e Sorcerer Power Question

Well no you can't, since having 5 thunder resist means you ignore 5 thunder resist as a storm sorcerer...

How do the Expertise Feats Interact with an Assassin's Ki Focus?

I'd say no, you're still attacking with the weapon, and expertise with a ki focus isn't an enhancement bonus or property. On the other hand, you could take Focused Expertise (Long Sword) for example, because you can use your weapon instead of your ki focus as an implement.

ugh math... str dex fighter in hide.

This is a bit misleading, you'll have the same starting AC as scale, but for alot of your career you'll actually have about the same AC as chain. Eg lvl 10: - AC 10 + 5 (half level) + 5 (dex of 20) + 6 (+3 earthhide) = 26 - AC 10 + 5 (half level) + 11 (+3 braidmail) = 26 lvl 14, when you get...

    Force damage... hmmmm... uhh..?

Ironically tho, the number 1 least resisted damage type is weapon damage (untyped in 4th edition), so changing it to a different type only increases the chances of it being resisted.

    Wonderous Items and your party

The treasure distribution is actually kinda funky in that with a party of 5, you'll get 4 magic items for 5 people per level, or each person gets 80% of a magic item per level. With a 4 person party, this drops to 3 magic items for 4 people, so 75% of a magic item. The smaller your party size...

    Spiked Shield issues

Idunno I agree with the DM personally. If I was DMing, I'd say something along the lines of "Ok, I agree by the rules this is legal, but..." and then hit him over the head with a rules book (well, ok not really). Its pretty clear swordmage warding is an improved replacement for a shield, and...

Which class/race combo is the best survivor?

Revenant (Human), probably warden. With the ability of revenants to stay concious while below 0 hitpoints, the bonus to saves you can get from human etc, you can create a character that only ever dies if he gets to negative bloodied hitpoints... and he'll be getting over 20 on his death saves...

    AV2 Item power levels

Well, that sure beats the Battlecrazed Weapon enchantment, lvl 4 for a daily property that does the same, but does 1/2 your level in damage to you for the privelege. Altho it does have a +1d6 damage while bloodied property. Not that it matters since you'd just draw and activate it once an...

    overwhelming strike and reach weapons

More interestingly, if you have a non-reach weapon but have +1 slide distance from something... then you shift 1 square and slide the enemy 2 squares into the square you just occupied. I guess it can go the scenic route ?

    AV2 Item power levels

True, but its not like they don't have plenty of weapon vs reflex/fort etc powers anyway. Actually glancing through, most of the weapon powers involve hitting with the sword, and most of the implement powers involve not using the sword itself physically... there's just a couple of exceptions...

    AV2 Item power levels

Almost... The Eagle Eye Goggles are a +1/+2/+3 attack bonus to ranged basic attacks (eg magic missile, eldritch blast, dragonfrost etc as well as the obvious) at level 3/13/23 from memory.

    AV2 Item power levels

Personally I feel that if a swordmage power is using his sword as a physical accessory, then it SHOULD have the weapon keyword. Problem solved. The problem with your viewpoint, is that if weapon focus is just using how to learn your 'weapon'(/implement) better to suit your powers, then why...

    Mounts

There are some pretty good mounts, and some soso ones that you'd just use for travel. My favourites would be the blade spider for melee... free attacks that weaken the enemy? sign me up ! And for ranged.. the dire wolf. Due to poor wording on the mount ability, you get combat advantage if any...

    Attack of opportunity

Shifting and forced movement are both movement (hey its even in the name of the latter !), but they're exempt from opportunity attacks. Spitting Cobra Stance gives opportunity actions, though... Forced Movement specifically states that it does not provoke opportunity attacks or other...

    Couple of rules questions

Well with 2 the problem is that intuitively it should provoke, but the rule says "If an enemy leaves a square adjacent to you, you can make an opportunity attack against that enemy." And while it may be a technicality, he's convinced himself that its what the rule says.

    Couple of rules questions

    1) With the multiclass feats that say 'you can also wield xxxx implements' is there a faq ruling or anything clarifying what you can wield them for ? The character builder doesn't let you multiclass to invoker and use staffs as a shaman, for instance (except with invoker powers), so I'm not sure...

Different styles of healers, lets hear em!

Maybe they weren't trying quite as hard as they thought, all they need to do is step out of the consecrated ground. It covers a fairly small area, so it should be pretty easy to get out of it while still being able to hit things, plus it moves slowly and needs to stay adjacent to the cleric at...
