D&D 5E (2014) Rise of Tiamat Supplement is online

Driftglobe seems broken. 2 Reasons: 1) It references a spell that is not in basic and not in its own spell section (Daylight) 2) It will only follow you if you get beyond 60ft, which means if you are using it to cast the light spell, you are walking around in the dark with a perfectly nice...

    D&D 5E (2014) Disengage Clarification

Just to put a bow on this, this is how I read it. When you are mounted you can tell your mount to Dash, Disengage, or Dodge. If you want to move away from the target without being attacked. You tell the mount to disengage, and have it move (taking you with it). Done this way you will not be...

D&D 5E (2014) [Rules Question] Opportunity Attacks and Total Cover

My view appears to match Paraxis. Rule is that you get an AO when it leaves your reach. As shorthand the game describes reach as up to 5 feet away. And it makes sense if you imaging you have a sword, you can reach out at least 5 feet around you and even above you. But you can't reach 5 feet...

    D&D 5E (2014) Licensing so far....

I guess I have less of kind view of their public relations ever since someone complained that it felt like an alpha (not me) and a developer replied that yes it is more like an alpha and it you don't like it you can leave. Which is not the best way to handle a frustrated user. The post has since...

    D&D 5E (2014) Licensing so far....

The modern agile development system still calls an alpha an alpha*. One of their own people said it is more alpha than beta so why not call it alpha? Perhaps the problem lies with Android playing second (or third) fiddle to iOS. But they are talking about being almost ready to deploy iOS, but...

    D&D 5E (2014) Licensing so far....

I'm curious Praxis what are you running Dungeonscape on? I have run the net and Android version on an older tablet and both are troublesome. Perhaps the iOS version has more features and is more stable.

    D&D 5E (2014) Licensing so far....

Dungeonscape is buggy at the moment and not even a true alpha (it is not feature complete). I would have hoped that the cards would be out by now, I don't know much about the minis but what I have seen does not interest me. The first module is OK but a little too much railroading IMHO. So...

D&D 5E (2014) Next DMG Sneak Preview is Up! Figurine of Wondrous Power!

With bounded accuracy the combat stats of the figs should make them effective for longer, though though without costs it is hard to see what level these are expected to fall within the players hands. In my case they were awarded due to PC's winning a contest by a "mad" wizard. They are a party...

D&D 5E (2014) Next DMG Sneak Preview is Up! Figurine of Wondrous Power!

I would have wanted them to give the Ranger to use animals as companions with a limit on how powerful of an animal to use. Best to treat the animals as hirelings. The way they have it now is odd.

D&D 5E (2014) Next DMG Sneak Preview is Up! Figurine of Wondrous Power!

In my previous gaming session I had the players find the 2 lions. I liked their recharge scheme better (AD&D DMG). It was one use per day for one hour. Or if they are killed 7 days. It gives them an incentive to pull the lions back before they get killed. Adding the to verisimilitude of the game...

Roll20 publishes Game Percentages... Pathfinder at 25%

Would people running off of the SRD consider that 3.5? If so it might explain why 3.5 is still doing well, it is free. It might not look pretty, but it is open and has tons of 3rd party support as well as a lot of application support. Concerning the data itself, I find in fascinating. When I...

Roll20 publishes Game Percentages... Pathfinder at 25%

Though I never much liked Pathfinder (I played 3E but had fallen out of love of it just before 3.5E). But I know if I loved a game (which most pathfinder players do) I would not jump to 5e right now. 1) I would have some brand loyalty 2) I would be in a game and would at least finish it before...

D&D 5E (2014) We are betting a LOT on the DMG.... will it deliver?

I know it will meet MY expectations because every other book did. But there is no way it can meet everyone's expectations, because one person's essential information is another's waste of space.

D&D 5E (2014) What happens in the sundering?

I am listening to the first book right now. I probably won't read any of the others, and from what I can tell, all you will see is how the sundering of the worlds changes the locations nearby to the heroes of those stories. I thought I would not like that, but actually I am enjoying this book...

    D&D 5E (2014) Getting advantage, forcing disadvantage

Where does it say that you get advantage if the target is movement constrained? I did not think being grappled gives opponents Advantage. But I can see it, not for the grappler, but perhaps for his friends ("I'm hold 'em you beat 'em").

Should Clerics Have Heavy Armor Proficiency? (any edition)

Which is why modern systems, with their built in ability to gain extra features, should keep class based features to a minimum, this allows the player to define the specific features via those mechanics. JesterOC

    Most ridiculously overpowered game

I met a guy on a train once who described his D&D game. They where using 1st Edition and they had been the same game for nearly 20 years. All the PC's had been 20 level magic users, fighters, and clerics (I think) they had destroyed about 4 countries (worlds?) and they were about 5 - 6 levels...

    DMG2 Excerpt: Companion Characters

Thats what I'm thinking. Now the Bow Ranger can have a companion too.

What is your favorite edition of D&D and why?

4e 4E. Easy on the DMing. Every other version of D&D I always used modules as a start and then modified them a bit. With 4E I am now starting to make most everything from scratch. The Monster tools and of course monster design in general makes DMing more fun than ever.

Pathfinder 1E [Pathfinder] Planning on switching to Pathfinder?

No, pathfinder looks like a nice new improved 3.5. But I 4E fits my vision of what D&D is all about. Looking at pathfinder example characters made my head spin. I wish them luck, but I really want them to kick out a couple of 4E adventures. JesterOC
