Jeremy Crawford on Xanathar's Rogue Inquisitive Subclass

Not sure how this class will affect mystery plots in D&D.

Tomb of Annihilation Is Here - What Do You Think?

The random monsters you encounter might be the best way to dissuade. Low level PCs from getting far into the jungle. Hit them hard while they are still near the walls. That might drive them back. Another group could possibly rescue them without being ridiculous. Sent from my ONEPLUS A3000...

D&D 5E (2014) Point Buy vs Rolling for Stats

Here is where you miss the point. Olympians are not born with 18 in an attribute. They have good DNA and have some sort of body type. If they train like hell (equivalent to leveling classes in D&D, then they can get up to 18s). So yes it models it quite well.

    D&D 5E (2014) PHB Feats taken - RESULTS

The times when my players used Dual Wielder was when Human and first level using the human variant. To get a feat instead of +1's to all stats. Makes it pretty useful in the early life of an adventurer.

D&D 5E (2014) Casting multiple spells with bonus spells and the order they are cast.

Where does it say this in the rules? Where does it say this in the rules? On page 91 of the rules it says this. "A reaction is an instant response to a trigger of some kind, which can occur on your turn or someone else's" Where does it say that in the rules?

D&D 5E (2014) Point Buy vs Rolling for Stats

True. The point buy is a representation of Olympians not the general population. And Point buy does not relegate you to having a low intelligence score. In a better point by system you could break up the points between Intelligence and Physical Attributes. But one could argue that natural stats...

D&D 5E (2014) Point Buy vs Rolling for Stats

Interesting point. D&D was based on a concept that each stat was based on a independent bell curve for each stat. As Gygax was a insurance underwriter he loved his numbers and he developed a system that he must have felt approximated nature. But the problem with his method is that it does not...

D&D 5E (2014) Point Buy vs Rolling for Stats

When I was 16 my "rolled" characters did rely on my skill. I wrote a program to roll my character. First it rolled just the attributes. Then I added hit points. Then I added the ability to re-roll with the hit of a space bar. Then I allowed it to roll until a certain statistical value was met...

D&D 5E (2014) Casting multiple spells with bonus spells and the order they are cast.

First the text on page 91 of the 5.1 SRD "A reaction is an instant response to a trigger of some kind, which can occur on your turn or on someone else's." It is right there in, the reaction happens on your turn or someone else's turn.

The rules clearly state your reactions take place on either your turn or another's. There is no reaction turn.

D&D 5E (2014) Point Buy vs Rolling for Stats

Just coming into this debate but this was an interesting point. Very true in a limited sense. If you define barbarian as only a combat focused being. However there might be occasions that the barbarian will need to solve a puzzle of make a diplomatic check. At those times, they are actually...

When you use counter spell on your opponents turn. It is still their turn. When you use it on your turn, it is still your turn.

D&D 5E (2014) [SPOILERS] Enhancing Tomb of Annihilation

Still a little worried about levels 1-5. I grabbed the Return of the Lizard King. But I really don't like how that adventure starts. It makes a lot of assumptions and feels a bit railroady. It (the Lizard king adventure) does push the plot ahead very well, but I have a feeling it will feel a...

D&D 5E (2014) Casting multiple spells with bonus spells and the order they are cast.

It seems clear that this sentence is the source of the trouble. "You can’t cast another spell during the same turn, except for a cantrip with a casting time of 1 action." SRD 5.1 pg 101 Because of how it is worded you can't cast healing word and counterspell. Which is just plain ... odd ...

Tomb of Annihilation Is Here - What Do You Think?

Agreed. While I liked curse of Strahd and abyss, this feels the most free and diverse. The objective seems more clear (kill Strahd might sound clear, but honestly it seems my players feel that escaping without killing him would be just as interesting). This seems to be more personal. Though it...

D&D 5E (2014) [SPOILERS] Enhancing Tomb of Annihilation

My group knows I'm planning on starting this next. I will warn them off what to expect. I don't want anyone to feel hosed be character choice. Huge differences in power are not that fun, on top of that players find ways to equilibrium fairly quickly. If their full plate fighter dies of heat...
