D&D 5E (2014) How does your group determine ability scores?

A little bit of everything depending on what table I'm at. One guy had us roll 4d6, take the best 2 rolls and add 6. It is freaking nuts. I usually go point buy. Another DM uses stat arrays. 4d6 drop the lowest is most popular by a bit.

D&D 5E (2014) What creatures would you use for this...

Blights led by an evil druid. Lizardfolk, sahuaghin, locathah, merrow, centaurs, tabaxi, kenku, humans...

    D&D 5E (2014) All character races are Medium-sized...why?

Seems odd when you find so many plus sized creatures living in those dungeons.

D&D General Is power creep bad?

And yet economists will tell you that a little inflation is a good thing. Some of us feel the same about power creep

D&D 5E (2014) Is Tasha's More or Less The Universal Standard?

I find the talk about Tasha's racial changes odd considering how it's already irrelevant

D&D General Is power creep bad?

Simple question, but I expect dissertations in the comments.

D&D 5E (2014) Is Tasha's More or Less The Universal Standard?

I guess I understand the "overpowered" argument, even if I disagree with it, but where are you pulling the "no-coherent-theme" thing from? It's pretty obviously a guardian-of-the-night concept. I just nerf the darkvision to 90' and call it a day.

D&D 5E (2014) Where does "Willpower" lie... Wisdom? Charisma? or someplace else?

Willpower, per se, is Charisma in 5e. That's the raw strength of will to impose your will on the world. Wisdom, at least for saving throws, is more about identifying thought/feelings as originating externally. Intelligence is used for puzzling through a situation.

D&D 5E (2014) your fist level wizard has used their 2 spells. Now What?

I probably concentrate on the spell I've already cast and dodge, concentrate on the spell I've cast and cast a cantrip, or concentrate on the spell I've cast and make a ranged attack.

    D&D 5E (2014) Saving Throws as Reactions (+)

It's certainly a neat idea, but there are some issues that creep up. Pros: Narrating the story of combat gets cooler. PCs without many reaction abilities get something new to do. More choices for players to make, particularly when it's not their turn. The Shield/Absorb Elements spells come down...

    D&D 5E (2014) Here's Our Favourite (and least favourite) D&D Monsters!

Just over 200 by the math Wraith had 25% with 50 votes

My phone just glitched and moved Modrons up to the #1 spot. No idea how that happened...

Can We Keep It? Pets for your D&D 5E Game

Players will massacre orcs for shiny stuff, but they will kill party members for a cool pet.

Spelljammer More Spelljammer Details Emerge: Spelljammer Academy, Flash Gordon, Light of Xaryxis

To be fair, Book does seem to get (or need) punched in the face fairly regularly, and Michael takes a LONG time to develop into the cool, collected type of captain that we are used to seeing.

    D&D General Githyanki Incursion

First, I love you. Second, how did you format this to look like something WoTC would do? Third, we went in some different directions with a lot of these guys. I'll have to share my own builds once I figure out how to steal your format. Having 2+ options for each entry gives some nice...

D&D 5E (2014) What rules for older editions have DMs imported to their own 5e games?

Minions from 4e. So much easier to balance encounters with them.

D&D 5E (2014) If you use thunderstep but teleport less than 10 feet do you take damage?

Well in this example, they reached across, but had they teleported, then yes, I would be.

D&D 5E (2014) If you use thunderstep but teleport less than 10 feet do you take damage?

Again M-W from one side to the other They reached across and shook hands. Note in the example "across" is not the verb. "Reached" is the verb. "Across" is used as a preposition. Prepositions are specifically used to express relations.

D&D 5E (2014) If you use thunderstep but teleport less than 10 feet do you take damage?

"Across vast distances" doesn't indicate whether you move through an area or simply bypass it.
