    Judge Dredd d20?

I don't know enough about Grimm to comment on this. However, there is no real reason that 10th level characters from D&D, Conan, Dredd, Star Wars and Spycraft couldn't all be been close in relative power. It would be cool to have a Wookie Judge with an elven Jedi romping through a fantasy world...

    Star Wars: Religion?

Yep. Not only that, but the stone heads that the Gungans meet Padme near in TPM are refered to as a ruined temple as well. SW seems to be crawling with religious references. I never actually checked before. Aaron

    Judge Dredd d20?

My bad. Judges, well everyone actually, add their Reflex saves to their AC so this isn't really a balance issue. Aaron

No prereqs for PrCs. A crazy idea?

One thing to try would be to move the main ability of the PrC down to 3rd or 4th level. That way PrC stacking would be sub-optimal. All in all, I agree with the orginal poster. I feel that prereqs are a bad mechanic. Aaron

    Star Wars: Religion?

You have the "temple" that the rebels were hiding in ANH, Han talking about "hokey religions" (note the plural), Vader telling Lando to "pray", and the previously mentioned priest dude. That's a little more than "no mention". I too ignore the EU. I'm a Brownian Canonist. ;) Aaron

    Judge Dredd d20?

I disagree. Level should determine the power of an individual character, not class. First level characters should be roughly equal in power. If a superhero is significantly better than a first level barbarian, then the superhero shouldn't be first level. For example, rather than give Judges a...

No ASF if proficient in armor or a 'spells in armor' skill?

I agree. I have no problem with wizards wearing armor so I removed ASF completely. However, I also added a series of Greater Mage Armor spells so wizards normally don't need armor in the first place. Aaron

    Judge Dredd d20?

No. It isn't balanced at all with normal d20. Judges get d12 hit points, Good Bab, all good saves, and an AC bonus equal to their class level. Aaron

Numbers/Rules for Naval combat and transport

I'd say a typical three masted merchant ship (circa 1500s technology) would be about 100 ft. long and about 25 ft. wide. A Chinese Junk from the treasure fleet was about 120 ft. long and almost 30 ft. wide but these were the monsters of their day. Good question. Pre-gunpowder, you could only...

    GRIMM: Full Treatment ... non-d20?

On the FFG forums Christian T. Petersen (the CEO, I think) said: "Yes we are indeed producing a one-shot large (256 book) for the delicious GRIMM. The system will be a new house-system (elegant, fast, and with detail) that will follow many of our upcoming one-shot RPG books. " Aaron

    Star Wars: Religion?

Wasn't there some sort of priest dude who married Vader and Padme? There is some cool concept art for ESB of a burial service of Stormtroopers that shows a chaplain reading prayers out of a book. Aaron

Should shields count against touch attacks?

I've always played where shields provide Cover bonuses so they affect touch AC. It's generally pretty minor since most touch attacks are by the PC rather than against them. I also allow large shield to give you a +1 Reflex save versus burst attacks (like fireballs and dragon's breath). Aaron

    D&D vs D20

D&D has always been its own sub-genre and many games have tried to emulate it. Heck, Rolemaster was once an add-on to D&D. The need for player cooperation and character advancement pretty much assures that any RPG based on a genre will be fundamentally different from the genre its trying to...

Down with the negativity! Tell me what you like about 3E.

The biggest thing for me is the abillity to play any creatures in the MM. The rules in Savage Species could be clearer but you can still take any monsters and add classes to them. This alone makes would make me pick 3e over any older version. Aaron

D&D satanic; here we go again.

I'd suggest teaching her how to play. The Basic Game (with its colorful toy-like pieces) would work well here. Does your wife play? Aaron

    Level Adjustment -1?

Yes, you can add a HD of "humanoid" or any other monster hit die to any monster. Their is a problem with creatures of just one hit die but that is more a holdover from 3e when humanoid monsters weren't listed as warriors. I have no problem with a creature with one hit die adding that die to...

    Pet Peeves....

XP only "allows players to develop their characters" if by "develop" you mean "make more powerful". Let's say you have two players; the first wants to make an interesting character that is fun to play, the second just wants a character that is tough and powerful. By handing out "roleplaying"...

    Pet Peeves....

Your experience was way different than mine. Just look at the mountains of magic items in first and second edition modules. Players would get dozens of scrolls and potion yet those items were next to impossible to make. Who was making all that crap? Plus, 3e has the added advantage that you can...
