    Proposal for Weapon Speed Factors

Your casting your spells with the other, empty hand. You can't cast spells with somatic components without at least one empty hand. But then your initiative changes after you have started your action. How's that supposed to work? I few years ago I did a test with some wasters (weighted wooden...

    Proposal for Weapon Speed Factors

Or dropping your greatsword, drawing daggers in order to run away sooner. Or wizards with daggers casting before wizards with staffs. ..... These examples may be contrived, but I have yet to see a weapon speed rule set that can deal with them. Even limiting the Init bonus to people actually...

    Strength & Throwing Range Increments

Its simple (that's good) but the problem I see is that each extra range increment gives you an additional -2 to hit. So while you can throw it further, you can't throw it more accurately. Increasing the Range Increment would be another way to go but much more complicated. Aaron

Help with % based skill system

I don't see how rolling 2d10 instead of d20 will make any difference. If a character has +30 on a skill, he's gonna succeed on a DC 30 check every time no matter what you roll. Using 2d10 or 3d6 will just make it less likely for someone will less skill to succeed on a difficult challenge and...

    Amazing color photos from WWI

They have an almost unreal quality to the color pallette. Almost as if they had been colorized. It's probably because I'm so used to modern photographs. Aaron

    Autofire in Deadlands and Dragonstar

I do like the Spycraft rules for one thing. At least they give you the option of either firing more rounds to increase your damage (either through more dice or bonus damage) or they let you fire more rounds for a greater chance to hit. Most rules only do one or the other. Aaron

    Autofire in Deadlands and Dragonstar

I would if I had them. I should add the Hero rules since they are similar in concept to Spycraft. I originally just started the list to keep track of which set of d20 rules used which set of autofire rules. I only added the GURPS line because I liked the way they did it. From what I've heard...

    Autofire in Deadlands and Dragonstar

The Spycraft autofire rules are kinda wonky. The Dragonstar ones are also since you not only need to roll to hit at -4 but the targets gets an easy Reflex save to dodge the bullet. For grins, I made a table of the autofire rules for most of the games I have. I don't have Deadlands so I don't...

Fixing the problems I have with UAs wound system

You might want to look at the Blue Rose damage system. It seems to be more what your looking for. I make it so that a natural one just results in at least a normal Wound result (ie -1 to future saves). The -1 on future saves isn't piddly, it represents what hit points used to represent. Big...

    [Necromancer] Jubilex as OGC?

Yes, since the D&D Demon Lord is named "Juiblex". I've always mispronounced it anyway. Aaron

    Injury System - Question

    Blue Rose uses a similar system. You can download the basic rules here: http://64.17.155.164/gr_files/blue_rose_fast_play.pdf In the full rules there are conversions to D&D damage and hit dice. The basics are: Damage 1d3 -> +0 1d4 -> +1 1d6 -> +2 1d8 -> +3 1d10 -> +4 1d12 -> +5 So a fireball...

The Daredevil - Yet another new base class

The CA skirmish gives you the bonus damage if you move 10 ft. and are within 30 ft. I was trying once to come up with an ability that gave a higher bonus depending on how difficult the roll was. So, for example, if you needed a 5 or better to hit (or do your skill) you wouldn't get a bonus but...

    Cleric with no spells

A couple things ... Can she still Turn Undead? If so you might want to give her access to the various feats that let you use your turning attempts to do different things. Also, you might want to let her use her spell levels just to spontaneiously cast the Cure spells. Finally, the BoVD has...

    The Awl Pike

I'd make it martial as well. One of the things I do for pikes is to double the penalty for being flanked to +4. This represents how heavy and unwieldy it is in close quarters. Aaron

    d20 backlash??

The best way to increase sales is to create buzz and the best way to create buzz is by releasing a new version. That's kinda hard if you are making a d20 game since you rely on WotC to decide when you do a new version and then you do yours at the exact same time everyone else does. Creating a...

What the heck is "First Edition Feel"?

Since the only two companies consistantly producing modules are Goodman with their DCCs and Necro, it seem to me that 3e feel is now almost totally devoted to 1e feel. Esp. where modules are concerned. Aaron

Has anyone created stats for a half elf/half orc?

I had a race like that, I can't seem to find the stats. They had all the strength and ferocity of orcs combined with the long life and patience of elves. They were basically the power behind the throne; seemingly random orc invasions were actually part of a decade long strategies to gain power...

[C&C] Not nostalgia - Different folkloric basis than 3E

However, there are plenty of rule chances in C&C, such as using different XP charts for different classes, that in no way affect the storytelling area. They are purely nostalgia driven changes. Blue Rose might be a better example. Necromancer, and to a greater extent DCC, are proof to me that...

    Possible Cleric Change.

How about letting those without the Healing domain cast lesser stength version of the Cure spells; one's without adding the caster level. So a spont. Cure Serious only heals 3d8 instead of 3d8+lvl. That way every cleric can heal but those with the Healing domain are much better at it. Of course...

    Cleric nerf feedback.

From the SRD (also page 179 of the PHB) "However, a divine spellcaster does not require a period of rest to prepare spells." Only Arcane spellcasters need the 8 hours of rest. What I do: -Domain spells can be spontaneously cast -No bonus domain spells (this way they use the same chart as the...
