Microlite20 : the smallest thing in gaming

I've uploaded it here (direct pdf link) and added it to the Macropedia contents page.

    [BRAINSTORM] Cool Battlefields!

    - On a swing bridge - The spokes of a windmill - Underwater, in a coral reef. Lots of places to hide, plus valuable air pockets - Shrunk to the size of mice, inside a treasure chest, falling over lots of gold coins - Inside a Gargantuan Construct (there's a Dungeon adventure about that) - In the...

Microlite20 : the smallest thing in gaming

Thanks :) I'll post it up when I update more content tomorrow. I'm beat tonight.

What's the highest roll you've ever gotten?

459 as a single hit against a Giant in Rolemaster. The joys of rolling d100s for add-and-roll again if you get 95-00. Three rolls in the high nineties plus a decent OB means on amazing, memorable end to the beastie :) In the words of one player: "HOW MANY E CRITS???!!!!????"

Microlite20 : the smallest thing in gaming

No problem. Just point me in the direction of the original download, and I'll upload and put a page on the Macropedia. Coming soon: stuff. And lots of it :)

how to do mass/army battle quick?

I agree; it works better if you break it down into discrete units to make up a full army; sorry if that's not clearly explained. That's what we did too for the largest battle. In our case we were depicting 30,000 troops against 50,000 goblinoids across a massive battlefield, so we just set a...

Microlite20 : the smallest thing in gaming

rpol.net looks like a good way to go, Bert, yep. It would be a good showcase for that site too, and hopefully generate a lot of interest. I'll explore more. I'm sorely tempted to use "Slave Raiders" for the game; so much so that I'm going to play it through with my group next week, just to see...

how to do mass/army battle quick?

I wrote something about Mass Combat Made Easy a while back. Basically, if the opponents have roughly the same numbers just treat it as combat between one of each troop type. In other words, treat a battle between 100 commoners and 100 goblins as a battle between 1 commoner and 1 goblin. If...

    Erik Mona's Lo-Fi Experience System

Nicely done. That looks like a close relative to the Microlite20 way: Add up the Encounter Levels (ELs) of every encounter you take part in. When the total = 10 x your current level, you’ve advanced to the next level. Reset the total to 0 after advancing. And that's it!

Eric Noah, stay out of this thread. Everybody else, hop on in.

ENWorld is the third site I go to every morning, without fail. The first is mine (to check I'm still alive), the second is BBC News (to check the world it still alive). It is the online centre of my role-playing hobby where I know I can find people in the message board any time of the day from...

Microlite20 : the smallest thing in gaming

I've posted up the rules for Ultramicrolite20 into the Macropedia. It's what posted below, plus a simple example. Here they are, in their entirety. This might be useful for those times when even Microlite20 is too rules heavy :) This is Microlite20 boiled down even further. It’s suitable for...

Microlite20 : the smallest thing in gaming

Microlite20....the RPG that's so small, you need a magnifying glass to play! Lol :) Snik, we keep missing each other. Darn! One of the things I volunteered to do was run a Microlite20 game online, so folks could see how it played and experience the whole virtual gaming thing first-hand. I'm...

Microlite20 : the smallest thing in gaming

I like that it's 16 pages long. That's.....um....14 pages longer than the rules themselves :D Keeps it all together though, which is good. I'm tempted to pick out the best of the posts and stick them on a page at http://home.greywulf.net/m20. Then we could start a new thread, maybe :) The...

Microlite20 : the smallest thing in gaming

Yep. That worked :) Changing Kappe to Kappa gets the file. S'good. The adventure look great, and definitely pocketmodable too. I /really/ need to reboot to Windows and get some serious conversion done. We're gaming in Ptolus using full-on d20 tomorrow night, but also generating M20 characters...

Do only DMs like rules lite systems?

Rules lite is good for some things, not for others. It's not a player and/or GM thing at all, I don't think. I love my Microlite20, but wouldn't want to play it all the time - it's a good break after playing an intense full-on D&D game where you want a change of pace, or for introducing new...

    I Have A Problem With 3E

A little nerd rage is a good thing :) Read what I wrote again, trw. Maybe I didn't make myself clear. I don't like that something that takes a small percentage of your resources is called "balanced". It's not, and it's certainly not heroic. I don't like that we have HD/CR/EL/LA/ECL where just...

"Goodest of the good" and why Hell is a bad place

Good question. By your definition, Lawful Good would epitomise the natural state, so that could be viewed at the utmost pinnacle of perfection. It's possible to be "more Good" (Neutral Good) but ignoring the word of the law carries it's own punishment. Similarly, Law without goodness (Lawful...

    I Have A Problem With 3E

Not everything, no. Prestige classes and some of the feats however aren't "most things". If the character wants something out of the ordinary there has to be an in-game justification for it. Heck, if a Fighter suddenly wanted to take a level of Wizard, I'd play that out in-game too :) You're...
