    Brutal Throw too strong?

It's a powerful feat, but I think it's intentional. Thrown weapons just aren't that good, and it's sort of a patch to make a spear-chucker playable. Keep in mind you're throwing magical weapons, thrown weapons have poor ranges, and you're spending a lot of feats. You should make the same...

How often do NPCs/monsters flee in your group?

Wow. If your players are so predictable, you should totally use it against them. Have fleeing henchmen lead them into traps, or lead them to the REAL battle after the first/fake one. :] What do they do if they scatter in every direction? Each monster down a different tunnel?

How often do NPCs/monsters flee in your group?

Often. If I think it makes sense for an NPC/monster to flee (or hope to flee), it does. Especially animals.

    PC Scavengers

yes. no. If it's causing inter-player conflict, you gotta nix it.

Help Me Challenge One Of My Players

I'd say give him more opponents that shoot back. Archer PCs are effective, but they don't sweat as much as a frontline fighter b/c they're not taking hits. Use some aerial creatures w/encounters. That way he can deal w/the flying threat while the rest of the party deals w/the enemies on...

Worse Rules that game designers have made?

I kind of like iterative attacks (and the standard attack vs. full attack). Players will ALWAYS take any options/abilites to give them more attacks in a round, and in 3.x it seemed like the designers just included that assumption into the combat-oriented classes. It slows down combat at high...

Worse Rules that game designers have made?

    I totally agree with this.

Dervish (complete warrior) with a scythe. Suggestions?

Yep, It specifically says in the description of the Dervish's Dance that you can't use rage or similar abilities while dancing. I'd say make a fighter/barbarian w/whirling frenzy variant and Extra Rage (maybe twice), or make a fighter/scout (for fast move and skillpoints for tumbling (also...

    UA: Your favorite variant?

Whirling Frenzy, totem barbarians, reducing Level Adjustments. I'd like to run a game w/the generic classes someday.

    Stupidest Things DMs Have Done

I think I did this on one of my earliest DMing attempts. I had a bunch of spread-out orc archers concentrating all their fire on a different PC every round. One of my players asked, "What? is there some guy in the back with a laser pointer going, 'now the elf,' 'now the dwarf,' 'now the elf...

Is there any real world analogue to the Adventurer?

Sir Richard F. Burton is my favorite real-world adventurer. He explored East Africa in disguise, spoke over twenty languages, translated the Arabian Nights into english(w/o abridging the sexual content, pretty wild for a victorian), and even wrote fencing manuals.

Level 12, All books are fair game. Now, what should I be? [Updated, still need help!]

I was workin' on a replacement 8th level character the other day, but was a few levels short of getting it just right. It could be fun. Half-ogre w/ one level of barbarian using whirling frenzy rage variant from UA. (Grants an extra attack at -2 while raging). Rest of his levels in fighter...

    Munchkinizing for movement rate

A longstride shifter gets +10" to move while shifting and an extra +10" w/ the longstride elite feat. I'm wondering how many of these are base/unnamed bonuses and how many are enhancement bonuses.

    negating spells

Yep. multiple barghests all using their SLAs at once. Really? I'll have to tell the DM that; he has previously nailed us w/multiple rays of enfeeblement from gangs of sorceror kobolds. Getting a -2 penalty isn't so bad, I was worried about failing five saves and getting a -10 to...

    negating spells

I'm playing in the World's Largest Dungeon and our party is fighting a pack of barghests. They start off combat by hitting us w/ multiple Crushing Despairs. So first, because these are penalties, the spell effects all stack, correct? Second, how would using a Good Hope to negate these...

    "First Strike" Specialist

This is pretty much my PC (barb1/fight3/scout3), but with leap attack (x3 PA damage instead of x2) instead of cleave. If you can, check out the scout in complete adventurer. Skirmish instead of sneak attack, means extra damage as long as you move more than 10" before an attack (works great...

Your favorite reverse-cliche character type (or other game element)?

a pompous, elitist, halfiling wizard. Total racist/hobbit-supremicist. Refers to humans as 'double-lings' and other M-sized creatures as 'over-sized.'
