What Can Be Found In Every One of My D&D Campaigns

A Prison Break: Either PCs breaking out themselves, or springing NPCs. Pigs: Giant pigs, pig men, pig monsters, or pig riders. I have no idea why. Evil Cult: Temples/Churches: Backstory/history: Not that the PCs ever bother to look into it, but it's there. Rivals Nothing spurs a group...

    double lancer

Can a character wield two lances while mounted? & Can a character use the feat two-weapon pounce (PHBII) after a mounted charge?

    Rogue vs. Scout

I agree. A tumbling scout can almost always get skirmish damage w/o suffering AoOs, and w/o feints or relying on allies. I'm still not sure about high levels (which I rarely play) when a rogue will certainly have access to greater invisibility or other tricks to ensure sneak attacks.

    Rogue vs. Scout

Rogues can get sneak attack damage on a full attack. Scouts have to move, and thus no skirmish damage for iterative attacks.

What has been your geekiest moment?

Sprained my ankle GMing Star Wars. Tripped on a stack of Green Lantern comics during a mock lightsaber battle.

Only when they use ki strike (adamantium).

Happy to find use in a spell which I have never seen used in play.

I'm playing in a module now w/lots of kobolds and tiny passage ways and traps triggered by weight. It's the one time reduce person would totally rock, and we don't have an arcane caster.

    "Metadesign Principles of D&D"

Isn't there an anti-improved grapple in some WOTC book? I think I remember one. It let you trump imp. grapple and take your AoO anyway. And if you dealt damage, it ended the grapple attempt.

    Reason for Fantasy Biodiversity

Plant and animal species are competitve, but there's no way to say that would be true if many of them were intelligent. Maybe the Cooperative species would hava an advantage. That's a pretty good explanation for several dominant/good races w/dozens of less dominant/more individually...

Which DND God would you worship?

    Orthodox Banjoist

Do you prefer damage or "tactics" during combat?

After playing a lot of uninspired battles lately, I'd say my only joy has been dishing out damage. But if your DM actually presents you with an intersting encounter, both with the monsters AND the enviornment, I'd say tactics. It's not really a fun fight for me unless I have to think my way...

    Party NPCs

and with the understanding that the NPC isn't going to have much in the way of opinions or ideas on how to solve problems etc. In D&D games I've often made clerics for parties short on healing.

    Girlfriend in Gamer's Clothing

Yes and yes. A couple times actually. It's like some terrible, inevitable pattern repeated over and over through history. Only once did a gf successfully join, and that was after many months of ignoring us, then listening in, then asking questions, and finally joining the game.

    Good Superhero-Game?

It is odd, and it's a little couter intuitive after playing other games, but it's not really bad. I believe the idea behind it is that some abilities in d20/d&d are just straight up better than others, and they wanted to even them out more. Most abilities do 2 things: give a bonus to...

Ever had an RPG bring a tear to your player's eyes (or your own)?

My god, this is funny. I don't why, but something about prefacing a beating with "Good Afternoon," is really hilarious. The only way it could be better is it wasnt' actually afternoon at all. Like he had planned on it the afternoon, but then waited so long the sun went down. Anyway... I've...

So how long have YOU been playing D&D?

hmm... 18 years? 18 1/2. The box said 'ages 10 and up,' so my brother made me wait for two years after he got the basic boxed set. Jerk. But by the time I was 10, he had purchased AD&D 1e, and it was awesome.

    Good Superhero-Game?

I haven't played HERO in a long time, and I remember liking it a lot. I really liked making PCs as an exercise in crunchery or trying to mimick a power I envisioned precisely within the rules. However that was as a player. As a GM I freakin' love M&M. As far as the amount of prep work I have...
