    Gestalt in non Gestalt world

I'm starting a campaign where the PCs are gestalt classes and NPCs(or at least most of them) are not. The reasons: A. Because the PCs are the heroes B. The DM wasn't to spend 8 hours making every NPC

    The mechanical problems with Multiclassing

Yeah, I always thought it would have been a lot better if they had given the races +1 save bonuses, and not put those +2s at the first level of the classes. That way a 1st lev character would be about the same, but multiclassing characters wouldn't benefit so much.

Single Classed, Multiclassed, or Just a Mess?

I almost always multiclass, but I usually play fighter/rogue types, and never spellcasters. I like the idea of prestige classes, but most of them seem goofy to me...

[M&M] Question about Flaws and Powers as Extras

You can have a power stunt that has a higher cost/rank than the base power, but it has to equal the same amount of total points. For example you could have rank 10 Energy Blast (2pp X 10ranks= 20pp) w/a stunt rank 5 Energy Blast w/the area and selective extras (4pp X 5ranks= 20pp)...

[M&M] Question about Flaws and Powers as Extras

This is kinda why I thought that flaws from the base didn't apply to the extra powers.

What is the ideal session length

I voted for 6 hours. But, that's taking into account the 1 hour minimum start up time for everybody to chat and find their pencils and eat food. If a game is less than 5 hours, I feel kinda' ripped off. It feels like we barely got anything done.

Lets debate the pros and cons of Wound/Vitality-points vs. Massive-Dmg-Threshold

CON bonus should add to the damage save, since it's pretty much a FORT save. That makes high CON characters really powerful at low levels though.

    Draconian Economics

What do you mean? They're the ones teaching the humans the fundamentals of economics. ;)

    Draconian Economics

I was wondering if this might work. The dragon might serve the function of Fort Knox. He's just "gaurding" it for ever, and the merchants can trade paper money based on the hordes real value. Of course there's no way you could ever collect, but if I went to Fort Knox w/ $100 it's not like...

    Draconian Economics

Well I'm assuming that that the dragon in question is going to be some flavor of lawful, but I don't know whether it's good, evil, or neutral. Alignments are going to be pretty muddy so I'm thinking he'll be Lawful Selfish. I imagine it will be a combination of making deals and being generally...

Lets debate the pros and cons of Wound/Vitality-points vs. Massive-Dmg-Threshold

You roll: d20 + BAB + STR/DEX bonus +misc. bonuses vs. DC=10 + Base Defense Bonus + DEX Bonus + misc. bonuses. So equal opponents have a 55% chance of hitting each other. Armor only adds to the DMG Save, so every attack is basically like a touch attack.

    Draconian Economics

So, I'm playing in a new D&D campaign this month, and although I'm not the DM, the players and the DM are all sort of co-operatively creating a setting. It's going to be a pulp-fantasy, grim-n-gritty, urban setting. Although we're kind of basing the city on Lankmar, we are keeping in lots of...

How to make an air battle fun for more than just the pilot?

Instead of rocketeers the plane should come equipped w/a few radio guided missles. The crew members could launch them and make pilot rolls to hit enemy planes. If they flub the rolls, you don't have to worry about them crashing or falling to their deaths, just missing. There should be a scene...

[Nov] What's up in your campaign?

Well, by the end of November I should be starting to play in a D&D urban-pulp-political-type campaign. Where I'll be playing a dance instructor/politician. :uhoh: In my M&M campaign the players (who are always mistaken for super villains) have taken over the HQ of the world's premier super...

    Who's excited about Blue Rose?

see. "for girls" :D :D :D :D :D Seriously, though. I'm not dissing it. I think it's a pretty cool concept and I'm a big fan of anything that tries to stretch peoples ideas of what an RPG can be. But there's no way I can role-play a "romance" game with my guy friends. Maybe in an...

[M&M] Question about Flaws and Powers as Extras

Well. We'll see what Mr. Kenson says. :) I could be wrong; it's happened before. In the end though, he always says the same thing: Whatever's good for your campaign is a good way to do it.

Lets debate the pros and cons of Wound/Vitality-points vs. Massive-Dmg-Threshold

Very true. And feats/abilities like power attack and surprise strike can become very, very effective. In a hp game these might nicely boost up yr average damage per round, but in a DMG Save game it can boost your KO% from 5% to 50% on each hit. Word. In a game w/no hero points you might...

[M&M] Question about Flaws and Powers as Extras

Well, he's answered the 800 some questions before this one so I'm sure he won't mind too much. ;) I think is an issue of how you write out stat blocks. M&M doesn't usually do real complex powers, so they keep it real simple. Look at the archetypes, only Cyclone has a power w/power-extras and...

    Egyptians with Medieval Technology

Shoot a Horse!! That's Barbaric!! Actually the Pcs did alot of that. Barbarians. Ahhhh, but they're so cool. D&D has enough implausible stuff in it that medieval chariots are hardly gonna stand out as ridiculous. (this is egyptian styled after all) As for AlienSpaceBats what if...

The Wizard of Oz School of DMing

The problem is if you're not willing to wing it, you spend a lot of time making NPCs that your players might not even encounter. Preparation can also be a big loss of time & effort. I've had a lot more bad experiences trying to railroad PCs into the adventures I've planned than I have making...
