D&D 5E (2014) Casters should go back to being interruptable like they used to be.

Yes. Unless you only have always 1 to 2 encounters where the caster can always Nova, Fighters will outdamage wizards except in some rare circumstance.

D&D 5E (2014) Casters should go back to being interruptable like they used to be.

But you would need to rebalance everything. On monday my group (Wizard, Bardlock, Psi-Rogue and Cleric turned Ghost) was ambushes by a group of undead. If they would have been able to interrupt our spellcasting, we would have TPKed. At the moment there is an actual balance in 5e in Combat...

D&D 5E (2014) Casters should go back to being interruptable like they used to be.

With that rules my wizard would habe died on my round on monday. And the group would probably have TPKed. Also unless you have only one encounter between long rests, fighters and wizards have a similar damage output. So you would need to nerf the fighter to balance that again.

D&D General D&D without Resource Management

That is what I did with the Gritty grandma Realism rest rules: https://www.enworld.org/threads/long-rest-variant-my-gradual-gritty-realism-variant-rules.700415/#post-9162672 When you are full, you can handle a full 6 to 8 medium encounter as normal, but in a long rest only regain 10 to 30% or...

One bandaid solution for this is using XP as a balancing tool ... I think 4e did this, but am not sure: The more encounters your have between long rests the more you get (like in multipliers). So, to put that into 5e as a quick and dirty solution is, when ever you take a long rest, all XP you...

D&D General D&D without Resource Management

How about travel, mobility and stealth penalties and benefits depending on how lightly or heavily loaded you are? Personally I wouldn't like a system that is in state of hyperflux where you can choose (a number of times) to have the gear you need right now. I prefer that I as a players or my...

The encumbrance system needs to be a simple one. Let me polished up my system and then you try it out.

So, I have some Ideas to rework encumbrance and Eating/Drinking. One of the big problems is, that those at the moment are only negative rules. If you follow them, you get punished. They are also easily ignoreable, so players will ignore them unless the DM strictly enforces the tracking. So in...

Funnily, I developed a system for Gradual Ressource Regeneration: https://www.dmsguild.com/m/product/456636 (free download) Characters regain roughly 10 to 30% of ressources (HP, Spell Slots) per long rest (depending on Constituion, Character Class and Level) - that can be adjusted by the...

Because we have spellslots instead of Mana / Sorcery Points (or what that Variant rule is called). Everybody who have used the Variant Spellppoint Rules to replace spellslots makes the same experience: Caster always use the highest spells. Instead of 2 or three fireballs, and then shatter and...
