Actually 3e had a staggered release, there was a month between PHB, MM and DMG. 3.5 doesn't count, it was a revised version of 3e, not the 1st printing of a new edition. And 4e core books were indeed released at once, and they had an awful lot of errors. So none of your examples is good to prove...

I agree, they deserve a huge applause. It's nice to see that a lot of people are actually quite satisfied how Wizards handled the new edition.

That's probably the easiest thing to house rule.

Since the stats and illustration for gynosphynx are missing it's highly possible, that the Tarrasque has another page too with lair and more fluff.

Wow, they did make a typical mythic creature interesting and exciting. I usually thought sphinxes are meh, but this one piked my interest. It's a source of good ideas and adventure opportunities.

A lair for the Tarrasque where he regenerates would be nice. :)

I'm not a bird so that's not a big help. I can't relate to avian creatures. Plus are they swallows or eagles or condors?

The way he plays on the instrument with his hands is the somatic component. Have you ever seen someone play a guitar solo? It's like weaving freaking magic.

The only thing I miss from that illustration is a silhuette of a normal sized being so you can understand easier how much bigger the beast is compared to you. Hacklopedia and good old dinosaur books did that and it helped a lot. Otherwise I really like the picture, the stats and the breezy...

That's why I keep such things optional. Some of my players are "no risk, no fun" or like to roll for everything just because it's faster. Plus they got used to rolling up race and profession in my DCC campaign where we have 22 races.

I would increase the chance for halflings and decrease for dwarves and elves for my campaign. I'll have to do my own table anyways, since some of my players like rolling random races and the Wilderlands of High Fantasy has quite a lot of races and sub-races, especially for humans.
