Which version of D&D is your favorite now?

And we had a quite long playtest too which already had a lot of the foundations of the new edition in it.

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e Eldritch Knight vs PF Magus

The best fighter/wizard in D&D history was the elf class. Deal with it.

    D&D 5E (2014) Elves subrace?

I would go with sunglasses even then. People don't see what feats you have when they take a look at you (well, except dragonmarks in Eberron), unlike sunglasses. And sunglasses rock. Especially in a medieval setting.

    D&D 5E (2014) Elves subrace?

Time to buy some sunglasses for your drow.

    D&D 5E (2014) movement rate per day

"The travel speeds given in the Travel Pace table assume relatively simple terrain: roads, open plains, or clear dungeon corridors." Difficult terrain halves the speed, plus the 30 miles is the fast travel, with no sneaking and perception penalty.

    D&D 5E (2014) movement rate per day

All of them can be divided by six, so I would go with smaller, six mile hexes. You might also find this little tool useful: http://rechneronline.de/pi/hexagon.php

D&D 5E (2014) Are ability score caps adjusted by racial modifiers, or does every race have the same potential?

I agree. Thinking that a human doesn't have the potential to be just as strong as a half-orc sounds... racist. :)

Which version of D&D is your favorite now?

    I was hesitating between 5e, 1e and OD&D, but I went with 5e.

    D&D 5E (2014) Polearm Master feat...where's my spear?

I was talking about Advanced D&D 1st edition (and maybe 2nd too, I don't remember it's equipment list). It had pretty detailed stats for weapons, even if weird here and there. If there was enough place for ~20 specific polearms, it's strange they didn't include more than 5 swords. But I might...

D&D 5E (2014) Are ability score caps adjusted by racial modifiers, or does every race have the same potential?

My problem with increasing the maximums for demihumans is the minimal power creep and that the demihumans get another advantage over humans.

    D&D 5E (2014) Polearm Master feat...where's my spear?

I'm one of those who didn't have any problem with AD&D having a bunch of specific polearms. Instead, I didn't understand why didn't we get as many kind of specific swords. Why did we get only general short sword, longsword, when we could get claymore, zweihander, flamberge, gladius, etc.?

D&D 5E (2014) Are ability score caps adjusted by racial modifiers, or does every race have the same potential?

Try arm wrestling with a chimp and you'll learn, that little fellows can be just as strong as the big guys - or even stronger. The same can be true about halflings and half-orcs.

D&D 5E (2014) DMing, Sandboxes, and Boring Dungeons. HELP

It might seem scary, but don't worry, you don't have to have EVERYTHING ready and planned out, only what's important. The rest can remain sketchy or be improvised, and if you need some help to spark your imagination just roll on a random table. Plus you can expand your sandbox later. New people...

D&D 5E (2014) DMing, Sandboxes, and Boring Dungeons. HELP

Yes, it was pretty common back in the days to create their own maps. You can start with basic description so they can base their drawing on something, then tell them the details (no need to draw those). There's usually a cartographer among my players. I usually have a sketch about who stands...

D&D 5E (2014) DMing, Sandboxes, and Boring Dungeons. HELP

To start a sandbox campaign just work out a smaller area (eg. a town and nearby lands), then you can expand later. All you really need is places and NPCs with their issues and relationships, don't write scripts - the story will write itself once the players jump in. Take notes what they did and...

    D&D 5E (2014) Finally

That's true. But so far 5e seems to be a million times better than 4e when it comes to "bugs".
  17. Ravenheart87

    D&D 5E (2014) Finally

Yeah, but 4e core wasn't reprinted or revised either. You got errate and a huge amount of updates, but you still needed the same core books until Essentials and Rules Compendium was out (which is a different kind of animal). Still, people played and had fun even with the "buggy" 4e. And then we...

    D&D 5E (2014) Finally

That's a bit foolish if you want to play 5e. There is never a "bug-free" version and it seems so far whatever issues people found here are pretty minor. But feel free to wait to have a revised edition a few years later or a deluxe reprint after the 8th edition is out.

    D&D 5E (2014) My thoughts on 5E

MODERATOR UPDATE: Needlessly antagonistic. Lets keep it civil all.

    D&D 5E (2014) Goodman Games Announces 5e Modules

So much fuss about the rules. I don't really care about adhering closely to the rules, balanced encounters and encounter building. If the modules are cool, then I'm in. And if I really don't like something, I'll change it. But then again, I'm not afraid to do some conversion and use old Judges...
