    Questions for a Bard|Warlock

I allow the target of a spell to determine if he's an ally or enemy. If you cast a healing spell on me, I'll be your friend, if only for a second. You got one thing wrong though: creatures (not PCs) have 1 healing surge per tier.

Psion and his cool powers, help please

agreed, but as a DM I do allow hitting yourself with ranged area powers. I don't want to prevent the wizard from centering a fireball on himself. If the wizard benefits: good for him. No basic attacks or other powers though, unless the power specifically allows it. Also: no, you're not your own...

    But Undead isnt a race...?

the creation of undead is evil (or usually is, depending on your ethos), but not all undead are evil. It is evil to turn a paladin into an undead tomb-guardian, but the resulting guardian need not be evil. Some paladins may even volunteer to give up their life to protect the tomb forever (The...

Behind the Times (are my core rules obsolete?)

I'm too lazy to keep up with all errata (the errata is one of the biggest problems I have with 4e. core rules have changed). Just dont worry about it too much, reduce skill DCs by about 5 and try to use monsters from MM2 or 3 (an extra MM never hurt a DM). really, all that isnt necessary...

How much has world-creation been important to you?

I've developed worlds of my own.. thing is.. It takes a lot of time and effort to create a world, a storyline etcetera. I'm now using a published setting I really like, but since it's a 3rd party 3.0 setting originally, it's not wel known. I'm also changing things to fit the story, so playing in...

    Cool stunts you've seen

It was on Athas, and it was second edition. Our party was happily strolling through the desert when a roc appeared, high up in the air. The roc spotted us pretty quickly, and started to dive down toward us. This turned out to be a mistake... for the roc. I was playing a cleric at this time, and...

A mad experiment - wizard -> scientist conversion for sci-fi

could be worth a shot to watch some old babylon 5 footage. the technomages are basically just that: mages based on high technology (sufficiently high to make it indistinguishable from magic)

    Amusing House Rules

Dice are governed by the god of numbers, El Palo. His favourite number is 1, and he hates the number 2. Any player who rolls a one must worship El Palo by uttering his name. Any non-minion that is reduced to exactly 1 HP gets a halo (the Halo of El Palo), which appears with an audible *pling*.

    Thunder Hammer question

I've ruled in my game that the caster of a spell can determine who is an ally or enemy at the time of casting. if an area spell targets enemies, the caster can choose which ones he hits. if the spell targets each creature in burst, that's what it does.

Gold Overload - Paragon and Epic - Interesting Ideas

if I want to give my players a money sink which they are happy to spend their hard-earned cash on, I give them a base of operations. One of my favourites was an old lighttower. After repairing the old tower it was quickly expanded with a dock for ships, a wall was built, other buildings erected...

    Pyromancer Mage: Balanced?

looks like it doesnt affect immunity, just resistance. this basically means it's a very restricted damage bonus... nothing more.

    Essentials feat too powerful???

cant really comment on how powerful or not essential feats are, but your DM does have a point: if everyone wants the same feat, there's a real chance it's too powerful.

Question Re: Your 4e Adventure Design

homebrew.. nothing bad about it but I often dont have the time. I do use a lot of monsters straight from monster manuals, but I do a lot of reskinning. most monsters are not directly recognizable. reskinning is easy and your friend (or at least MY friend).

    Life On The high Seas?

it depends on what you're going to use it for. river or sea? is speed a big issue? loading capacity? will you engage in combat from the ship? you could look into used navy stuff for d20 modern.

    Does Falling Provoke AoO?

I treat falling as forced movement, so it does not provoke.

    D&D 4E Elevation Bonus in 4E?

it promotes positioning and is easy to keep track of. I've made it a +1 bonus in my game, and my players like it. no need to let them know it's actually a houserule :)

    List of Broken Powers

I'd just rule that anything that is not strenuous activity triggers a short rest, so you better stay damn busy after getting THP.. normal travel is not strenuous activity, so triggers a short rest after 5 minutes..

    Quick Question: Only two players

I've played with 2 players (characters really.. I was DM, and played 1 character) once, and it can be done. make sure there's some character synergy (in my case it was to show a new player how dnd work, new player was a rogue, so I made a warlord. good flanking buddy, decent healing). rule...

    How do Wizards cast Spells?

the same goes for all classes. a fighter with his hands bound can use powers with improvised weapons, like a kick or headbutt. This is just one of those cases where it's up to the DM to just say 'no'.
