Get rid of the half-races, except halflings ;o)

How about rolling all half races together as a single half-human race? Give it a few different options to represent the kind of bloodline it has (without being too specific about the actual parentage) give it some special paths, and leave it at that.

    31 Flavors of Warlock

The warlock is clearly something that has generated a lot of discussion and concern about 4e, and rightly so. But if possible, I'd like to step back from the controversial aspects, and focus on the possible varieties of warlock we might see, and how they might work. So far we know of three...

Another *speculation* stat block : Ice dragon

From the first thread on this, it seems Skip linked to this beastie as "interesting speculation" which garners it a closer look in my book. This makes me smile. :) Although, I would expect it to be modified by Str, not Con. Conditional swift actions, lovely! I think that will get a lot of use in...

    delete this post please

Pretty nice stuff though, and I bet the style of the abilities is spot on. I like the conditional swift actions, and especially the tail swipe with a cone shaped area of effect.

    Eladrin, warlords, and unnecessary D&Disms

I think Tactician is a great name, and nicely describes a martial leader role in opposition to the fighters... only thing is, I really have no idea if warlords martial powers have anything to do with tactics or not. I mean, I'm sure some do, but it may have no connection at all to half or more...

    D&D 4E Initiative in 4E

Meh, it's all to complicated for my tastes. Just as long as the initiative system allows for and encourages fairly realistic combat tactics, it's good enough for me. More options for reactions and simultaneity action is a good thing though, and we may well see those in 4e. But still, you guys...

    A mystery race ?

I believe they've made a point of changelings being in the MM, and of being playable that way so I don't think that's it. A mystery race that is a surprise? Controversial perhaps? Goliaths don't seem like that big of a deal, they probably would have told us already. Same with half-ogres, orcs...

    Speculating on Claw/Claw/Bite

Why not both? Have one attack for a full on clawing biting assault, one for an accurate one claw swipe, another for a two claw rake, another for a biting grab move, or whatever abilities and tactics that monster uses. Perhaps not so many for a single beastie, but just take a few combinations of...

    BAB + Int mod?

Ah yes, I had a similar thing with that project of mine, making a mirror of BAB called BCL (base caster level). But for the half casters like bard, I had to up the medium rate to 1, 2, 2, 3, 4, 5, 5, 6, etc, else 1st level casters couldn't cast, and classes with medium BAB and BCL would be too...

    BAB + Int mod?

BAB+Int isn't something I'd expect to see in most spells. However, a spell that involved a weapon being wielded telekinetically like Mordenkainen's Sword could use it, since it can draw on both the users mental ability and martial understanding. Also, a weapon made of pure, malleable arcane...

A minor rant: the Elf spectrum

Come on now, be serious. Clearly, elven rainbows happen when fey break the law, and get sent to prism.

A minor rant: the Elf spectrum

...Great, now I'm visualizing rainbows made of elves. But hey, as long as were on the subject, let's fill it in a bit: Elves Eladrin Drow Half-Drow Half Elves Half-Eladrin Eladrin-Elves Drow-Elves Drow-Eladrin Eladrin-Drow-Elves Half-Eladrin-Drow-Elves...

Scott Rouse blog - Rogue ability

My concern was more along the lines of classes being too hamstrung outside of their intended roles, or for class options being too narrow flavor-wise. I honestly don't think it will be much of a problem though. But even if it were, that would only last as long as until the next expansion or good...

Condition track - wishful thinking, rumor or confirmed?

I like death at -50%, same value as Bloodied. That way a high level barbarian could take a good hit from 1 HP and not die, but you no longer need to keep smashing that housefly until you hit -10 either. :)

    Design & Development: The Warlock

A difference yes, but it can be just the difference between a cleric and warlock. Arcane casters seem to have a theme of wielding the forces of the world directly, and divine caster are granted their power from elsewhere. If they need to appeal elsewhere instead of doing it themselves, that...

Condition track - wishful thinking, rumor or confirmed?

Depends on how many conditions were talking about here, and how much trouble it is to keep straight. Bloodied at 1/2 HP is fine, is easy to remember and quickly dividing one half hit points in your head is an easy thing. Dealing with 1/3 or 2/3? Not so much. At most I would like to see a...

    Design & Development: The Warlock

Um, what are you people talking about? A warlock that takes levels in something else isn't breaking a pact or anything or leaving it behind or anything, they just aren't getting better at their warlockery. As far as debate over the effect of evil pacts, as long as the character is non-good I...

    Whither Summoners and Animal Companions?

I'm hoping that in 4e summoning of multiple creatures is still around, but even with the streamlining of monsters it would be too much bookwork. Better that it uses some kind of group rules for multiple summoned monsters to keep it simple. And really, summoning 5 celestial badgers may be more...

    Whither Summoners and Animal Companions?

Multiple attacks aren't gone, it's just the iterative attacks from high BAB that's out. Any multiple attacks will be the result of special actions, and I'm sure the good ol' claw-claw-bite is somewhere in there. :) I don't know, I could see room for something like it along with the traditional...

    DDM Preview 6 Cyclops

They only have one eye, but it's a very good eye. ;) Actually I'm not sure, is there some mythological precedent for cyclops having supernatural perception of some sort? I can't think of one off the top of my head, but it seems like part of the cyclops theme for some reason. Also, about the...
