    Lesser Known Movies Worth Seeing

Two movies I dig: "Memento" - ever tried to watch a film that is basically backwards, only the scenes are forwards? Great imagery, nice story, and absolutely mind-blowing concept. "Donnie Darko" - can't describe that film. It's just weird, but pure genius. One of the films that makes you think.

When did gnomes fall from grace?

I have to agree with the Vampiric Mouse, there :). Gnomes, IME, never held the appeal that all the other races held for players - other races that were at least somewhat present in fantasy literature, and to be used as inspiration or "role models". For me, there's two recent examples of "gnomes...

Reducing the Potency of Heal Spells

This is what I use, and it doesn't create any problems.

    Shemeska's Planescape Storyhour (Updated 29 Jan 2014)

Smith I am not familiar with, but Mieville is the uncrowned king of post-planescape fiction :).

    Shemeska's Planescape Storyhour (Updated 29 Jan 2014)

Ah, I was referring to the "man vanishing from image" scene. I think there's a story by MRJ that uses similar symbology: a figure that is [different every time you look at a picture, and at one point it's] gone from the frame. Quite scary when I first read it :D. I feel your pain. This has led...

    Shemeska's Planescape Storyhour (Updated 29 Jan 2014)

Heh. Another M.R. James reference? Nice work, although I weep for the poor molydeus :D. What did you actually have in mind for the party at that point of time - anything besides open battle?

    Must a Coup-de-Grace deal damage?

No save necessary, IMO. My reasoning is this: There was no damage dealt. Sure, it was only because the warforged's DR prevented that from happening, but how is that any different from, say, a spell effect? If a human that is subject to a spell granting DR would be hit with something causing...

You're right, of course... I hold the terrible heat responsible for that mix-up. *slaps self*

I am aware of the fey aspect, just thought there was still more to come :D.

    Shemmy's Planescape Storyhour #2 (Updated x3 10-17-07)

Nice update, once again :). Now, does Ankita have some kind of lycantrophy thing going here, or does it have to do with her (assumed) past dealings with / possible origins as a fiend? I wonder ... Introduction of "another party" is always nice, as this is the point where the adrenaline kicks...

What consitutes the proper Dark Elf setting and environment?

As far as "official" books go, Homeland (book I of the DET) and the first two books of WotSQ portray Dark Elves best, in my opinion. Also, consider reading "The Descent" by Jeff Long. It's a quasi-modern book, but it is a great inspiration both for designing the Underdark and making possible UD...

FR: Silver Marches, Orcus, & Orc Invasion

Well ... unless you were planning on a campaign arc that heavily includes undead, I think you'd best leave Orcus out of this. I don't think he would care about Orcs who are just about to build their own kingdom in the Marches, especially with Gruumsh meddling ;). You might consider using the...

    Heroes Of Battle SUCKS!!! (IMHO)

It doesn't, really. The writeups are just there to allow you to incorporate Tanar'ri/Baatezu armies into your battlefield in smaller units, basically it's like "Command Retinue is made up of demon/devil type x, who upon attack will use round-by-round-tactics y", "Scouting forces are made out of...

how do you use spell components

I always treat spellcasters as having the Eschew Material feat. Everything over 1gp, they have to specifically buy / look for / whatever, the rest is handwaved.

Check out the Dragonmech setting; it provides complete stats and rules for that kind of thing :).

    Niche

"No niche", IME, is just the short and rather mislabeled form of "I can't use gnomes in the fantasy world I like to play in", instead of referring to their cultural / mythological roots or something.

    I've got a rep!

Same here, though in both cases to a lesser degree :). Oh, and I also seem to have a rep for banning spells (ever played a fire-specialized mage without access to Scorching Ray? :heh: ).
