Yeah. I mean, without any disrespect to the authors, this book seems to fill exactly the niche I'd feared it would: "Ye Evil Booke for First Time Evil Players" a.k.a. "BoVD Black and White". WotC have a history of reducing everything even remotely philosophical to, well, triteness.

Sadly, I've completely lost interest in this one. The only thing that's interesting (to me) is the "Champions of Evil" chapter, but no way I'm gonna shell out 30 € for that.

It's already ordered, and my FRGS told me they'd ship on 05-23. I'm definitely looking forward to this, especially now that I've cancelled my Champions of Ruin order.

Try "Midnight: Against the Shadow", which has nice rules for that kind of thing.

Go with LoM or Races of Eberron, both of which are excellent books - content-wise as well as rules-wise. Also, the art is great. As for Sandstorm and CA, I can't really say anything about them, because then Eric's Grandma would get upset. These are the books that I haven't gotten any use out of...

No, I wouldn't play in it - but that's mainly because I dislike the module, plot, layout and all.

Seeing that his armor needs to withstand some serious punishment, but he also needs to be mobile in it, I'd vote for Banded Mail (or Splint Mail at best), nothing heavier.
