Lords of Madness Stuff (Update: Some folks have it!)

Got LoM in the mail this morning, and I must say, I'm very impressed. While the book doesn't reach the high standard set by the Draconomicon, it (at least) equals Libris Mortis (which, by my standards, was quite good). The Chapters detailing the various aberration types are extensive, but to...

    Word Processor or Legal Pad?

Most of the time, inspiration hits me when I'm flatfooted :p. This leads to me grabbing the first writing utensil available and just scribbling down notes. Thus, I've got stacks of differently sized, colored and whatnot paper lying on my desk, which make up the "framework" of my campaigns. But I...

Ever hear a song that makes you think of D&D?

"Sleight of Hand" by Eyes Adrift. Of course ;).

    Shemmy's Planescape Storyhour #2 (Updated x3 10-17-07)

I'd guess the Human Fighter cohort and the "weird tiefling/aasimar", since the Elf connection would be too obvious :p.

    Best RPG Books to Read

Faces of Evil: The Fiends, Uncaged: Faces of Sigil and the Hellbound: The Blood War Boxed Set. All others are pale imitations of the real thing :D. As for 3e+, good reads include Beyond Countless Doorways, the Midnight and Oathbound CS's, as well as the Dark Legacies guide.

Living in a European City for 3 months

They probably wouldn't, regardless of how much effort you put into it ;). jgbrowning: I'd recommend London / Amsterdam / Berlin (if you dig big cities), otherwise, try France (along the southwest coast, really nice there) or maybe Switzerland (let's say ... Zürich).

    China Mieville on D&D

You are misinterpreting my intentions. I wasn't jumping on Wulf, just trying to understand his reasoning. -- The connections to Planescape I mentioned weren't literal ones. Do not look for planeshifting, devas, ursinals or stuff like that, because that - for me - is not what PS is all about...

    China Mieville on D&D

scourger: I got IC as a hardcover, and I'm in love with it ;).

    China Mieville on D&D

The latter is my point. It is not okay to use one's religion or one's nationality as a derisive or insulting term. It *is*, however, okay with me to use a term like "capitalist" or "communist" or whatever because it only reflects the speaker's personal view of that charakter (which, at times...

    Thanks, great job, man :).

    China Mieville on D&D

Sorry, Wulf, but you apparently missed my point. "Irishman" or "Muslim" are terms denoting someone's nationality or religion in the real world. We are talking about fiction here. *sigh* I give up. Don't read the book. :(

    I'd go with pdf, definitely.

    China Mieville on D&D

Note that he did not equate these descriptives, he merely used them in conjunction to describe a character who is all of the above and more.

    China Mieville on D&D

What Banshee said. Yes, saying "I don't like Mieville" because you do not like a certain style of fiction (or his writing style in particular, after having read one of his books) is fine with me. I could even understand someone not reading a book because the author's political beliefs are...

    China Mieville on D&D

Well, Wulf, my point of view is somewhat different on this subject. For me, it all sums up to: "As long as those facts" (that are worked into the book, like Wrightby actually BEING a capitalist and an exploiter in the worst sense of the word) "are worked into the fantasy world the author...
