dexterity => Agility + Coordination? Comments?

First, it wasn't so much a problem with 'cookie-cutter' rogues; I guess what I'm trying to say about rogues in general is that they only have one stat that they really have to worry about generally; even fighters have STR and CON; wizards have INT and DEX, etc.... Virtually all other classes...

dexterity => Agility + Coordination? Comments?

Not too long ago there was a thread discussing the importance of the ability Comliness (sp?), in which as I recall many people voiced that they think it would be good to bring back. I wasn't much interested in the thread though, because I personally think Charisma covers that area pretty well...

dexterity => Agility + Coordination? Comments?

Re: Re: Re: Re: dexterity => Agility + Coordination? Comments? Perhaps not, but I still see them as about as related as Constitution and Strength. A bigger, stronger individual is tougher, and also harder to bring down. I'm saying Agility and Coordination are as different as these two other...

    What's Up With The Monk?

Excuse me, but hasn't anyone ever seen Drunken Master with Jackie Chan? At the end, flaming oil becomes his specialty! Great movie, BTW.:D

    What's Up With The Monk?

Basically what I'm saying is poison is dishonorable. If everyone used poison, you'd have chaos (pronounced CHOWSE :D). However, it's really no more _evil_ than using a weapon; either way, your trying to destroy your enemy. But using poision (it could at least be argued) is pretty chaotic in...

(slightyly OT) Vin Diesel's new movie: Hannibal

http://www.msnbc.com/news/790206.asp?0dm=C18NL (emphasis added) So, the man who plays D&D is going to be in, not the next Conan, but Hannibal. I'll go see it. :)

    What's Up With The Monk?

I think he just means that since (in most campaigns) poison is bought on the black market, it's probably illegal, and therefore unlawful to use it. Just a guess. Personally, I can't see any better way to define the law vs. chaos axis than by what is considered legal/illegal. Which reflects...

    What's Up With The Monk?

(slightly OT) One of the main reasons I gave the half-orc fighter an INT of only 6, was because no matter how low a PC's INT is, the character always gets at least one skill point per level. It's interesting how little this matters for a fighter with only 2 skill points. :)

dexterity => Agility + Coordination? Comments?

Re: Re: dexterity => Agility + Coordination? Comments? I'm not saying there would be an ability score requirement. I'm saying that you would apply your Agility modifier to that skill. As far as the rules holding up really well to this, I obviously disagree. In fact, I really don't see how...

dexterity => Agility + Coordination? Comments?

I posted this in another thread, but no one seemed to take any notice, but it's something I've been considering for a while now... The one thing I most appreciated about the 2e Skills & Powers Supplements was the 'breakdown' of the abilities, which, more often than not, did make a lot of sense...

Ability scores in the real world

To those who base intelligence on academic performance and/or quantifying tests: what about someone like Vincent Van Gogh? Many will agree he was a 'genius.' Yet, likely, no IQ test or academic performance trackers would have ever identified him as such. What about Edgar Allen Poe? Miles...

Ability scores in the real world

The one thing I most appreciated about the 2e Skills & Powers Supplements was the 'breakdown' of the abilities, which more often than not did make a lot of sense. The one in particular, which I was honestly quite surprised not to find in 3e, was the breakdown of Dexterity into (a) balance...

    What's Up With The Monk?

Interesting monk, apsuman. In fact, in addition to all that, take the fact that I totally miscalculated my fighter's equipment. I'll redo it when I get home, but I'm willing to bet that by a simple fight demonstration, the monk would indeed be the equal of the fighter, mainly because the...

    What's Up With The Monk?

Ok, well, in that case, I wouldn't even give him the spiked chain but rather a greatsword; thus the crit range would be 17-20 and damage would be (on average) 2 points higher. But technically, I guess (if no AoO are allowed) the monk could just spring attack the crap out of the fighter until...

    What's Up With The Monk?

Well, to address this issue, we were limited to 32-point-buy, which is the main reason why I disagree with you. Also, there were two feats I had this gruntish brute take that were pretty much optional (and needless); I could've taken (and indeed thought about taking) the feat Great Fortitude...

    What's Up With The Monk?

Ok, I edited it, and changed it to a dusty rose ioun stone (+1 deflection bonus to AC). So now he is only +20/+15/+20 to hit while hasted, and his AC rises to 23. In essence, he would still take out the monk with about 3 hits (and he would still be 100% likely to hit him at least twice every...

    What's Up With The Monk?

My monk-slaughterer: Ok, here is my 10th (half-orc) fighter made using 32-point buy: initial (unmodified) stats: STR 22 (+2 from levelling)... with items, it’s actually 26 :) DEX 12 CON 16 INT 6 WIS 10 CHA 6 Saves: Fort: +10 Ref: +4 Will: +3 Skills (13 points): climb +17 (with modified STR...

    What's Up With The Monk?

Hakkenshi, I was expecting you to give him a ring of mage armor. :) Also, I would at least give him an 8 CHA, and then give him a 14 STR.

    What's Up With The Monk?

We could go to 10th level, then it wouldn't be a big deal to take him to like 15th after that, really. Just a few more feats, skills, items, and one stat boost. I don't know, I suppose we could star over with items, assuming a 'fresh' total amount of accumulated wealth. Whatever.
