Playtest (A5E) Level Up Playtest Document #10: Adept

I'd like two make two not-so-simple wishes. It would be great if it was possible to build the cast of Baki (the recent tournament arc). Baki and the Ogre play a different game, of course, so they would be monsters rather. Add recommendations for Martial Styles, so instead of picking...

Cortex Prime - What are your ideas for custom made systems?

My game started as Cavaliers of Mars (which is quite a similar system) but since evolved full-blown into a CortexPrime. The original is about high adventure in retro-futuristic terraformed Mars. I moved from this concept to make it darker and closer to 1910s. The PCs are agents of...

Official News Level Up: Spending Gold (At Higher Levels)

I still vastly prefer 13th Age solution to this issue (8 recoveries, regain roughly 1/2 to 1/3 hp per recovery, recoveries are usable by players for an action, or by cures [no action used], regain recoveries after long rest) - no need for healbots, wands of cure light wounds, ties wonderfully...

Official News A 'State of Level Up' Address!

Making a guess as to how a mechanical trap works using technical information as opposed to layman's guess? Constructing golemic shell that does not fall apart after making a single step? Preparing for a bashing a door in, and making sure that your leg does not get broken? EDIT: Forgot my...

Official News A 'State of Level Up' Address!

Brilliant. Same about devil's bargain to avoid taking critical damage. Just add that the default setting is going to be the world of Zeitgeist, and you've made a sale. NOTE: I have one nitpick with the layout. The left margin of BUILDING VARIA block does seem out of sync with the rest of the...

Unique British aspects of D&D in the UK?

Caveat lector: I am not British. EU-person still (regardless of Brexit... that's still not a true Brexit). To vanilla D&D, I'll say it's Witcher with all its good and bad stuff. The world is so full of dirt you can't help adopting stoic attitude toward evil, discrimination, poverty...

Take A Look At The DUNE Character Sheet!

What I wonder is how the game is going to offer roleplaying opportunities outside of established history.

Take A Look At The DUNE Character Sheet!

Under CortexPrime and City of Mist rulesets, where descriptive traits are the core of the game, the outcome is narrated according to traits used. For example, "Nasty, Brutish and Short" applied to a locked door is likely to be very physical about the task (kick it in, dynamic entry tool, etc)...

Take A Look At The DUNE Character Sheet!

That's third game I see recently that follows similar approach to stats. Works nice (in my experience) as long as the players have an incentive not use the same combo for different tasks.

    So Cyberpunk 2077

Also, I need to stress one thing. The detail level of the design of Cyberpunk 2077 is staggering. Whoever was behind it, they are a genius of hard work. That's my char and my car near the beginning of the game. Note the bottles near the canisters.

    So Cyberpunk 2077

The game is apparently a glitch fest on older consoles and some PC setups. I got lucky apparently (Nvidia card/Ryzen) on my modest PC - no bugs in sight. Still, there will be more patches, so everyone will get to play eventually.

Check Out The First Dune RPG Art Preview

Oh, I wholeheartedly agree with that. Paul does a big job attempting to escape the programmed destiny (ref. the ending of the second book). What I would like to say, is that Paul is intended to play his role. To become a part of larger scheme. And he (and Alia) appear too soon according to...

Check Out The First Dune RPG Art Preview

Is he now? One of most important points of the series is that Paul refuses to accept his role in the myth. Secondly, Paul is intended to become a controllable product of eugenics. Thinking that for some reason his lineage was strictly white is quite a leap. Three, Paul is not an outsider to...

Pathfinder 2E Wanting to Change the AP We Started - Advice?

Change the system to less intensive one. Theatre of mind instead of maps. I am currently running City of Mist while prepping WhiteHack with 13th Age mods.

    medieval architecture in tropical climates

May I humbly point you toward India and Myanmar/Burma? An intricate culture with highly urbanized centers. For a high quality rpg supplement, have a look at Yoon-Suin (Yoon-Suin, the Purple Land — Noisms Games). It's a port city, by the way.

Warhammer: Age of Sigmar: Soulbound: Starter Set PDF Coming Monday

I love the nod to the original Wfrp handbook cover. The system appears to be neat, and offers an alternative to d20 zero-to-hero (the game protagonists are fantasy superheroes and the power growth is more horizontal). The art looks great and meshes well with the layout. I'll buy the book once...

    Suicide Squad in SWADE?

Random. The premise of the Suicide Squad is that they are mismatched, and the boss is a toxic hindrance rather than an enabler. Also, most of the Suicide Squad members are one-trick ponies with severe liabilities. For example, something like this: Special: Death Clock (works like an Apocalypse...
