The problem with Evil races is not what you think

You proved my point, if in no other manner, than personally attacking me and insisting I was wrong (and being passive aggressive) when all objective evidence would show that is not the case. But you're free to believe in--and to rationalize--all your prejudices.

The problem with Evil races is not what you think

Nothing personal, but the very title of this thread is antagonistic. Not only because I taught in university for years, but just as a reader, this statement inherently says that you believe you know what I think and that what I think is--by your perspective--not just incorrect, but wrong. To...

Resolving conflict and achieving outcomes without combat

Certainly driven by quite a bit of ideology at work in both the story within the film and with the authorial voice of the film. Most rpg session are not. Most. But not all...

Resolving conflict and achieving outcomes without combat

fpbp. Subterfuge. Persuasion. Spying. Impressing. Gathering information. Sneaking. Lying. Intimidation. Oratory. Bartering. Bargaining. Fast talking. Blending in to avoid conflict. And many, many other examples... In the case of Battleship Potemkin, public display of solidarity (e.g. the...

Which non-D&D fantasy RPG do you currently play?

Playing in a campaign that's a weird hybrid of Stormbringer and Conan 2d20.

    Alternate History Campaigns and RPGs?

We've had a T2K game going with the same group on and off for a few years now. One of the players is a Warsaw Pact kid from the 80s, another is a Yugoslav who moved to the States in the late 90s. Sometimes alternate history ain't so alternate.

    Real Religion in Adventure Design

I took Card's perspective to be that by that time, there would be female priests and bishops. But from a conservative Catholic viewpoint, that would constitute a dogmatic error. Back an aeon ago, when I was a non-Catholic in Catholic high school, the token renegade Jesuit teacher had AC Clarke's...

Evil protagonists from fiction - or 'Examples of how to play the bad guy without being a total jerk'

Maybe it's that "I'll-make-meth-and-destroy-other-people's-lives-to-save-myself" thing that makes him a jerk. YMMV.

Evil protagonists from fiction - or 'Examples of how to play the bad guy without being a total jerk'

From my perspective, both of them are real jerks (to use the thread title descriptor and not my preferred choice). Especially the former.

    Back to the 80s

We used the 64 Chevrolet Malibu, its driver (insane from dealings with Mi-Go), and its cargo (left undefined) as a red herring for a Delta Green scenario.

Evil protagonists from fiction - or 'Examples of how to play the bad guy without being a total jerk'

De Niro as Louis Cyphre in Angel Heart (or the novel Falling Angel; both novel and film are excellent). Literally the Western definition of evil, and with his refinement and class, he finds vulgarities uncouth. Elric is a pawn of Arioch, a Lord of Chaos. Moorcock differentiates Chaos from...

    Back to the 80s

More than a few times, yes. Saw it in the theater when it came out. Despite being 1981, I think it's the best use of rotoscoping in film history. In my opinion, it suffers from having it's conclusion be too quick and too tidy. The journey is better than the destination.

#RPGaDAY Day 11: Which ‘dead game’ would you like to see reborn?
