Many great point here ... Starter Sets are indeed great ways to teach folks new to the hobby (friends, family, kids, etc.) Also, you'd be surprised at just how many folks are coming to Tales of the Valiant as their first RPG! :)

Alas, neither Sword World or especially the Fiend Folio were released in the last couple years, so unfortunately not within the scope of this thread …

From what I understand, the Basic Adventures introduce the rules of the game a little at a time, with simpler plots. The Advanced Adventures incorporate all those rules together into longer, somewhat more complex scenarios.
