Well, all the same features you loved in the early Shadis still exist in the Knights of the Dinner Table magazine, so I hope you're reading that already! :) We'll be releasing more Shadis PDFs soon, by the way.

Oh, for those who aren't aware, most of the features and formats of the early Shadis evolved into the magazine section of Knights of the Dinner Table. So if we brought Shadis back, we'd just be competing with ourselves - and duplicating a lot of effort. :)

No, no plans for bringing it back. I'm not sure who actually holds the rights to Shadis after the first half-dozen issues or so - probably AEG. Only the earliest ones are ours (Jolly's).

I don't foresee there ever being a "Dungeons & Pirates", "Dungeons & etc etc" ad infinitum, simply because it dilutes the brand name. Sure, there could be a "Dungeons & Dragons: Pirate Edition", but not a brand that calls itself "D&P".

It's not that other games have failed to eclipse D&D because of the the d20 rules system (or AD&D rules system). They've failed to eclipse D&D because it is D&D - the longest-running and best known rpg brand out there. Although, I doubt that any game designer truly believes his brand name will...

I've just updated the description on the main Kingdoms of Kalamar web page, and I need some comments - especially from people who don't know the setting, or only know a little about it. So, does the page help define the setting? Does it spark interest? Are any of the hooks intriguing...

Those are my thoughts as well. I disagree on this one, though. My guess is that it will be called 4th edition. However, if there is a 3.75, I'm betting it'll be called PHB III and DMG III (and MM MCXXVII). :)
