    GSL CopyRight Theivery Clause

The question is: When you convert your OGL product are you really converting its OGC or just your PI (Product Identity, which is not released as part of the OGL)? After all the OGC rules work with the old d20 SRD and not with the new 4e D&D SRD... so are you really using the OGC mechanics as...

Martial Controller: Auxiliary (Version 0.11) -Updated Preview Character (Aug. 9th)

That's okay... I downloaded the Druid last night... looks very nice ;) Thanks for playtesting the Harrier, its nice to get play experience-based feedback ;)

Martial Controller: Auxiliary (Version 0.11) -Updated Preview Character (Aug. 9th)

The thing is that bursts target squares, not individual targets. I think both have their ups and downs. The question is which one has more of an up side. Volley as a keyword upside: 1) Can be used to modify an attack type with minimal of hassel (cover from attacker, etc.). Volley as a...

GSL-What happens when someone uses my OGC?

The sad thing is that many publishers choose to go this route because of the spirit of the OGL... hopefully WotC will clarify if this is the case because if it is there are certain publishers who might want to convert to 4e, but can't because of all the 3PP OGC in their products.

GSL-What happens when someone uses my OGC?

Sorry, I inverted IP and PI... I was meaning PI (Product Identity) as defined by the OGL... darn acronyms ;) So does this mean a publisher who prided themselves on using OGC IP (now I've got it right) with long section 15s will be having a nightmare with their conversions because they...

GSL-What happens when someone uses my OGC?

I think the question isn't about PI (Product Identity), but OGC and how it is converted to 4e. From my understanding you can convert anything to 4e that once was OGC. However, if your product included another company's IP you would have to seek specific permission. The thing is not many people...

    D&D vs. d20 GSL: What's the Difference?

So here's my question: What will be the differences between the D&D GSL and the d20 GSL? For those who don't know what the d20 GSL is here's an excerpt from one of WotC's Press Releases: Is there the possibility that the D&D GSL is specifically designed specifically for publishers to create...

I agree... I was just pointing out how messy it could get ;)

Martial Controller: Auxiliary (Version 0.11) -Updated Preview Character (Aug. 9th)

The new 4e SRD lists Harrier as a 4e Reference that cannot be defined, redefined, or altered (under the Hyena of all things). Which means the search for another name for the Harrier has begun once again... ;) If you have any suggestions feel free to send them my way as I consider my naming...

GSL-What happens when someone uses my OGC?

If it ever did that would nix a whole bunch of coversion projects because so many d20 products reference other peoples' OGC in their section 15... the whole point of the OGL/OGC was to "open" the content. How can one have sole ownership of content (other than IP)that has been "opened"?

GSL-What happens when someone uses my OGC?

What if you gave 3e rights to Publisher A, but retained the future rights of a product? Could you still do a 4e conversion of the material if Publisher A does not wish to go ahead with 4e's GSL, but Publisher B is willing to do so? Would this allow for both versions to be sold at the same...

A Novel Question (for Scott or Linae): Settings and 4e

That's what I figured. I was just trying to clarify how the IP of the campaign setting would interact with the GSL after it has been revoked (due to 5e). The other questions I had were less about a novel and more about how a unique campaign setting like Nevermore would best interact (or...

SRD Question (for Scott and Linae): 4e References (Mechanics or Mechanics & Fluff)?

Scott and Linae, Here's another question which might help clear up a lot of confusion: Are 4e references just the mechanics and not the IP ("fluff") of the races, classes, monsters, etc.? When I first read the SRD I was thinking just mechanics, b/c WotC didn't release their "fluff" with the...

A Novel Question (for Scott or Linae): Settings and 4e

Scott and/or Linae, I am currently working on a novel that involves the Nevemore campaign setting for the True20 system. If I choose to convert the campaign setting over to 4e and later the GSL is cancelled (such as when 5th edition comes out), then I would not be able to go back to OGL...

    4e D&D GSL Live

This is the one thing that makes me hesitate to release any campaign setting... I'd be fine with a lose the GSL and never come back to it, but lose the GSL and never go back to OGL is a tough pill to swallow... Not to mention how does my IP interact with 4e References, ect... I agree... I...

SRD Question (for Scott or Linae): 4e References or just Section Headings?

With some further reading I am also wondering if the "fluff" of a race/monster cannot be altered either... at first I assumed the 4e references refered to the rules, probably because the 4e references beneath the section headings are rules related, but some have posted that they think even the...

GSL & SRD -- Comments, Questions, and Hopes

I think most settings will have more open design space with the d20 SRD, however there are some setting concepts which I think would work quite well with 4e (especially cinematic high fantasy settings). Also just talking from a design standpoint there are a lot of interesting rules in 4e which...

Martial Controller: Auxiliary (Version 0.11) -Updated Preview Character (Aug. 9th)

If this is built into the volley mechanic, then how would that interact with volleys that have ongoing zones of effect? Would it be better to say "Users may refuse to target a square that would otherwise be affected by the power"? That might work, but then you have to explain what happens with...

Martial Controller: Auxiliary (Version 0.11) -Updated Preview Character (Aug. 9th)

Nice suggestions... the question is whether or not a keyword (like conjuration, stance), or a defined attack (like ranged, close burst/blast, burst) is better. I am leaning towards defined attack because it is an attack that works differently than a burst or blast. Still some of your suggestions...
