Thanks, that clears it up... much more restrictive than I had hoped (especially with "Human" as a defined term), but thankfully there are synonyms one can use if you want to bring in a "cultural" aspect for a campaign setting. Clarity is always a help :)

It depends on if you read the race (Dwarf, Human, etc.), class (Fighter, Wizard, etc.), monster (Demon, Devil, etc.) section headings as "Section Headings & 4e References" or as just "Section Headings." If you read it the first way it is very restrictive, if you read it the latter, then it is...

I don't know the answers to most of your concerns, but the FAQ has this ti say about classes: I remember a similar reaction when 3e came out and many thought... how can I describe a class without character creation (WotC had a very strict definition of it in 3e... it seems the same holds here).
