SRD Question (for Scott or Linae): 4e References or just Section Headings?

One more question: If you do reference "Human" do you have to use the exact human racial traits as is, no changes? I would guess yes, because it is a defined term. However, I could create a "Mankind/Mortal" race that uses some of the Human racial traits, but changes things as needed for a...

SRD Question (for Scott or Linae): 4e References or just Section Headings?

Thanks, that clears it up... much more restrictive than I had hoped (especially with "Human" as a defined term), but thankfully there are synonyms one can use if you want to bring in a "cultural" aspect for a campaign setting. Clarity is always a help :)

    4e D&D GSL Live

So I noticed a lot of people are reading the SRD section headings as 4e Refrences in addition to being a section heading. My question to Scott and Linae is: Are the section headings in the SRD also 4e References, which cannot be defined, redefined, or altered in any way? So are Dwarf, Human...

    4e D&D GSL Live

It depends on if you read the race (Dwarf, Human, etc.), class (Fighter, Wizard, etc.), monster (Demon, Devil, etc.) section headings as "Section Headings & 4e References" or as just "Section Headings." If you read it the first way it is very restrictive, if you read it the latter, then it is...

    GSL - Devils and Demons?

This was my reading as well ;) I think it is because its the only way they can indicat you can use Demon/Devils... if they did not include them as headings, then the Demons and Devils would not be included in the GSL opened material, like the Beholder and Mind Flayer, who have no entries and...

    GSL - Devils and Demons?

I mentioned this in another thread, but I thought the same thought applies here: Is the assumption that you cannot use any Devils/Demons going off of the assumption that the section headings are "4e References?" I initially read them as section headings with the 4e References below them being...

    4e D&D GSL Live

So I noticed people mentioning you can cut races, classes, or monsters but not "redefine them" according to the GSL... Is this going off of the assumption that the section headings are 4e References? I initially read them as just section headings with the 4e References below them being what...

Martial Controller: Auxiliary (Version 0.11) -Updated Preview Character (Aug. 9th)

I think I'm good with volley's essentially being bursts that determine cover from the user. I'm still debating the ammunition use, especially with regard to "ongoing effects" that target an area. One thing I'm thinking of doing is allow all volleys to be shrunk down, volley 2 can become a...

Could somebody please explain to me how you sell a PDF without any website at all?

I don't know the answers to most of your concerns, but the FAQ has this ti say about classes: I remember a similar reaction when 3e came out and many thought... how can I describe a class without character creation (WotC had a very strict definition of it in 3e... it seems the same holds here).

Martial Controller: Auxiliary (Version 0.11) -Updated Preview Character (Aug. 9th)

For those reading this thread... Which do you think is the better "volley" technique: based on bursts (as it currently is written) or blasts (with the exception that you choose an origin square other then yourself and the effect pushes away from you). Also any other comments, questions, or...

True20: Nevermore campaign setting (the Big Bad Book) is in my Hands!

So I just got a package the other day from Expeditious Retreat Press... and inside this package was the Big "Bad" Book... otherwise known as the World of Nevermore campaign book (due out later this month and at Gen Con). It weighs in at about 200 pgs with some fine art by Joan Guardiet, David...

    Best 5 books for True20?

Sorry I'm late to the party... but here's my two cents: Although you said you are not interested in setting material... I would like to point out that the Nevermore campaign setting's Nevermore Gazetteer by Expeditious Retreat Press (nominated for ENNies Best Electronic Book and Best Free...

attacking an area a little higher: blasts and bursts in 3D

If it was free, then we would have a very serious problem because when all your allies "ducked," all the enemies would probably follow suit in order to avoid the Burst/Blast... and combats would turn into ring-around-the-rosey games ;) Thankfully, it's a minor action, which means you can only...

Martial Controller: Auxiliary (Version 0.11) -Updated Preview Character (Aug. 9th)

Posted Harrier version 0.05 Major changes to everything! Too many to detail here, however I am pleased with the overall class at least through the heroic levels. I still have to see how it'll work in Paragon and Epic levels, but seeing as the Ranger can do it (i.e. ranged attacks) and still be...

    Campaign setting for 4e

I can highly recommend the world of Nevermore. It is a very POL setting and the Gazetteer for it is free!. It is currently True20-based, but since there aren't any 4e settings out yet that shouldn't matter. Just to peak your interest here are the opening two paragraphs of the Big Book (which...

Average Damage of Classes (A request)

Interesting table... thanks for the insights into Level 1 damage (minus the status effects). Anyone interested in doing Level 3 encounter, Level 5 daily, Level 7 encounter, etc... Perhaps only do a three column table each time for ease of writing and reading?
