    Excerpt: Multiclassing (merged)

No I think it's meant to be once per day b/c the power/class ability conversion seems to be: At-Will powers become 1/Encounter powers and Encounter powers (which Healing Word would fall under) become 1/Daily powers.

    Multiclassing.

I think the problem with powers is that as a class you only get one encounter power until 3rd, 1 daily until 5th, and 1 utility until 6th. If you could "multiclass" your only encounter, daily, or utility power it would seem strange. If the PrRC is correct, then I could see an arguement for...

    Multiclassing.

One thing I noticed is 2 feats = 1 power... which is what I was guessing at in my racial breakdowns. For example, a Fighter takes Soldier of the Faith (and gains its benefit), but once he chooses one of the "_____ Power" feats he swaps the benefit from Soldier of Faith for a Paladin power...

Important! Interview opportunity - what do you want to know about the GSL?

I think they will release the answers earlier than June 6th... at least to those publishers who showed initial interest in 4e support. These publishers need WotC's answers before they can decide on the GSL and 4e support. If WotC waits until June 6th it will be very difficult to get product...

    Excerpts: Angels

I'm guessing there is a "polymorph" ritual, which would help in this regard. It seems that the MM only concerns itself with the "combat traits" and leave all the "story traits" up to the DM via rituals. Although perhaps we are missing a few things from the MM (they have shown in other excerpts...

    D&D 4E Comparing 4e Races

Thanks I'll update the race write-up... The +1 Will fits well with the fact that the eladrin only has a +2 History... I was wondering where the other skill bonus went... I think it went to the Will save instead.

    D&D 4E Comparing 4e Races

I'm not certain race specific feats should be part of the equation. Requiring a player to take a particular feat in order to make their race "balance" with other races seems to be a bit out of place with the design we've seen from the 4e team... which seems to be building PCs off of the same...

    D&D 4E Comparing 4e Races

I got the hong into one of my threads! I've truly reached a milestone... where's my action point? ;)

    D&D 4E Comparing 4e Races

For comparison here are the Halfling's Second Chance and Elf's Elven Accuracy racial powers: Second Chance Halfling Racial Power Luck and small size combine to work in your favor as you dodge your enemy’s attack. Encounter ✦ Immediate Interrupt Personal Effect: When an attack hits you, force an...

    D&D 4E Comparing 4e Races

I agree, though I see it on about the same level as the Elf's Elven Accuracy racial power. The former gives you a chance to be missed and the latter gives you a chance to hit.

    D&D 4E Comparing 4e Races

I agree... that's why I weighed some of the traits more than others in my calculations. ;) Even then there were a few races which stood out stronger than others. I agree the racial powers have been about on par with each other so they are a wash... I think though that you forgot also have...

    D&D 4E Comparing 4e Races

I agree... there is probably something more there... I agree that Dwarven Resistance is a pretty good ability... I counted it twice. I only counted the Stand Your Ground once, but it does seem to be a very nice ability so that brings them a bit closer to the Elf and Tielfing. If the "power...

    D&D 4E Comparing 4e Races

I know we don't have all the information... in fact we really only have two complete race write-up (the Elf from our Christmas present and the Tiefling from D&DXP). Still there are a lot of racial traits known so far based off of the Pre-Release Rules Compilation One thing I noticed is that...

Important! Interview opportunity - what do you want to know about the GSL?

HalWhitewyrm (a.k.a. Daniel M. Perez from Highmoon Media Productions) just posted this in the GSL News thread in the 4e Forum: The GSL looks a least a bit more promising then it did yesterday... but only time and the license will tell.

Important! Interview opportunity - what do you want to know about the GSL?

Although we don't have anything official about a "grandfather" clause for OGL products in the GSL I would like to make one suggestion to WotC if they do decide to put one in: Please have the grandfather clause kick in for anything producted before Oct. 1st rather than when the GSL is signed. I...

    Excerpt: powers (merged)

I wonder how long it'll take for someone to blow up the character sheet and power cards at the bottom and translate the whole thing for us? Bueller? Bueller?

Who Will the New Publishers Be?

You know I completely missed this question on the first read through... anyway... I think Mike Mearls has the most name recognition, writing and design experience, but the question is does he want to run his own business (or find someone else to run the business)... that's the biggest hurdle for...

Who Will the New Publishers Be?

Hmmm... now that is a very interesting idea. I'll have to think about that one ;)

Who Will the New Publishers Be?

Thanks for the run down of the ransom idea. I think that was a left over smile from my original sentence... I just forgot to edit it out. ;)

Who Will the New Publishers Be?

There are 4 ways I foresee myself publishing in 4e... 1) Ransoming a product. It could be fun, but I have never tried it before. Anyone interested in a 4e product ransom? Or have a "how to ransom" resource I can look into? ;) 2) Someone out there with money needs a freelance writer to complete...
